Just watched it. Was pretty good. Never seen the original so I dont have that to compare it to.
"That bear was wearin people's clothes." was a favorite quote.

We saw it in the theater. It very roughly follows the original story line, but veers wide in a couple spots too.
It's a decent movie; a western worth watching imo.

Hi...
We saw this movie in the theater when it first came out. I thought it a pretty good movie. Not as good a the original with Yul Brynner but a very good movie. Denzel did a great job as did Chris Pratt. The rest of the cast was pretty good as well. We will be watching it again now that it is available for rental and/or purchase.

I love the part when he told the horse, "Go on horse, Git!"

Remake was entertaining, I would see it again. But the original is a classic.

Good modern western flick, yes not the same plot line as the original. But in it's own way it was good.

The Yul Brynner version in 1960 isn't the original folks, it's a remake of the original Japanese movie with samurai as the players. Both are good!

Never heard of such a thing. I don't know a single soul who hasn't see it. I think I've seen it at least 4 or 5 times. Once you hear the sound track from it, you'll never forget where you heard it. Watch the original (as said, the Yule Brynner version). You won't be disappointed. Just a guess but maybe you've never seen "Shane" either Gotta say, I think I've seen "Pale Rider" about 7 times. Every time I happen to run across it while channel surfing, I say, "I'll just watch it to see Clint kick butt with that pick handle. But by that time I'm hooked and have to watch the whole thing again.

I have several of the versions on dvd, but have only watched part of the most recent version so far. So far, really good...
As previously mentioned, the origin was seven samari with lots of remakes.
"A Japanese farming village, constantly besieged and pillaged by an army of bandits, recruits seven independent samurai to defend it."

I have seen Shane. I got interested in old westerns late in life so I'm behind the times a little. Never seen The Shootist either. Just watched it. Was pretty good.
