Since I sent my only .45 5.5 bisley away, I have been wishfully thinking that I will replace it when a cheap one crops up.
Looking through the safe last night to dig out my Old Army to get it back together, I saw that 45 5.5" takeoff barrel (stainless) laying next to my 7.5" 45 bisley. A light went on.
A unique event happened today, when I called a gunsmith about swapping barrels. 1) the price was less than expected. 2) I can have it back next week if i ship it out this week...
I bought this 45 bisley on the cheap to get a bisley grip frame on my flattop 44 mag. Once the bisley grip frame came off my bfr, and went on the flattop 44, the frame on this bisley 45 returned to its home, and it has sat in my safe untouched since then. (musical grip frames happens at my house a lot - its a cheap way to find out what grip frame you like on which gun, and it keeps things interesting.)
Now its getting a stainless cylinder (CAS took care of the throats back when i was shooting this gun), 5.5" barrel and ejector rod housing. Looks like now I need a set of grips that will look good on a two tone... and polish the warning off, and... I'll have less in this gun like this than I would if I bought a brand new bisley 45 from that fellow on the RF that was moving them out so well a while back. I bet a couple of you recall that I likes my two tones. It's win win. ..nd now I have freed up a blued, unfluted 45 colt cylinder for my OM 45 rebuild.

Your life with all these parts is way to complicated... NM? OM? Swapping barrels, swapping cylinders, swapping grip frames... When you find a wife there won't be time for all this... My personal recommendation is that you start getting in the groove NOW so the transition won't be to stressful..... Put all those parts in one of those USPS fixed rate boxes and mail it to me.. I'll look it over, tell you what it isn't worth , and send you a few bucks... ;D

One of of the things I have to watch out for is that sometimes I try too hard to use what's at hand. Just this past weekend I glued two 1x4's together so I didn't have to go buy a 2x4. Higher material cost and more time spent, but at least I'm not wondering what to do with those 1x4's anymore.

That does it. I'm convinced Aggie has WAAAAAY too much time on his hands, too much expendible income, and too many projects hidden away in the safe. Why before long, he's going to have to get one of those Axehandle sized safes......
