I took off work a little early today and stopped by my buddy Marty's little gun shop. That was a crazy move on my part. I got to really looking at his Wilson Combat, Republic Forge and Cabot 1911's. Long story short a new layaway plan was hatched. After fondling full size and commander length pistols from all three builders I came away with a Cabot S100 on the layaway ticket. It's just like the one in the link. I should've taken pics of the pistol. After looking very close, inside and out, at all three varieties the Cabots came away with a fit, finish and attention to detail that the other two just couldn't match. Don't get me wrong, the Wilsons and Republics are very nice but the extra attention Cabot gives to their 1911's might be matched by others but will certainly not be rivaled. I'll be paying a few months on this pistol but it will be worth every penny to me. Plus the supplier of these Cabots said he will treat me to a free Gunsite 250 course. He and his wife train at Gunsite twice a year. This is my first foray into any high end firearms and I'm tickled to give Cabot the first dollar. Local place has a Republic 6" 10mm Ted Nugent edition for $6K. I keep trying to talk them into a "dollar down, dollar a day for the rest of my life" kind of deal but no luck so far...
