Trying to find some steel mounts for a Ruger 44 mag.Carbine. All i can find are aluminum weaver bases. I know Redfield did make steel bases at one time. Does anyone have any advice for a strong base/ring combo? Thanks!

I don't have a lead on a steel base but, in case you have to settle for aluminum, ....you may find it comforting that they worked just fine on mine for many years. It's not like the recoil is all that fierce.

Check ebay. I had no luck finding a one piece Leupold or Redfield base for an 88 Winchester recently. Found a new old stock Redfield on ebay for $18 delivered.

Buehler (sp) also made some steel mounts and rings. I have a set on my 44 carbine.

Thank Guys, I know aluminum will hold the zero, don't know if it will hold up to the rifle owner. Not me, a co-worker.
