Good thing it's not a 45 Colt. I'd be interested if it was.

To clarify, or to confuse you even more... Say you're the first guy to bid on an item in a Proxibid auction. You decide said item is worth $1,000, so you plug that in as your max bid. Proxibid will "start the bidding" out at the lowest price. A lot of the time this is $0.50. So then some dude comes along and decides he wants to bid on the item too. He punches in $10. Proxibid will up the bid to $11.00 and tell him he's been outbid. Maybe he ups the bid a bit, but eventually he tires. This continues with various other bidders until auction day rolls around. So now auction day rolls around and the bid is up to $185. The auctioneer holds up your coveted item and says, CAN I GET $190?!?! If no one will place a bid at $190, either in person or online, at the time of the live auction, YOU will receive the item for $190, because you already said you'd pay $1K for it. And that, in a nutshell, is how the Proxibid dealio works.
I've watched things go crazy high on that site, and shockingly low. It's the low ones that keep me watching. Two memorable ones include a gaggle of Premier Grade FA 454's and 475's that went for well under a grand (each). And the magic trio consisting of a Single Six, Bisley Blackhawk in 45 Colt and a Linebaugh-built 500L that went for just over $2,000 (for the set). Most things go higher than I'd rather pay, but I've gotten two off that site that still have me feeling that I did pretty well.
Best of luck to you, Rob. I'd love to see what you'd make of that beauty.

Looks like ti sol for $2750 plus premium to an onsite buyer. Just about what I figured it would go for.
