I'm have been agonizing for a week over the OM 45 I just bought and what I want to do with it. I finally realized that I should just swap it in as the base gun on a project I already had planned with a NM.
S&W M29 barrel rebored to 1 in 18 .45. Bisley grip frame (brass if the frame welding is ok, blued if we have to CCH the frame to hide welds). CCH AND brass tends to look too "busy" for my tastes. 5.5" barrel.
.45 colt only I'll sell the OM 45 acp cylinder to help finance things if I can. I know a welder who expressed some interest in it, so he gets first dibs. I'll sell the brass brip frame and grips if someone speaks up before they migrate onto my old army.

Betting selling a large frame OM hammer will go a long way toward buying a PC OM bisley hammer.
All of this leads up to me attempting to take the underlug off my Model 29 barrel myself tonight.
