the other day... I sure do love that little gun... been using Prvi soft point factory ammo, & getting good accuracy at 100 yards... need to find the time to get it out to 200 & 300 yards...
looking forward to getting enough cases fired to start reloading for it...
any of you guys shoot this gun, & reload for it???

I've never had one but I've always thought one of those little CZ carbines in 7.62x39 would be a sweet little still hunting rifle for whitetails. Good luck with a nice little rifle.

I mimic mart. Always wanted one just never pulled the trigger. I'd also like a CZ 527 American in 17 Rem or 204 for fur. I guess the TC Encore 17 Rem will do for now...

I bought the 7.62x39 Carbine when they first came out. Handload 123 grn Hornady VV-Max. It shoots under 1" @ 100 yards.

I had one right after they came out, love it with wolf 22FMJ's or HP's, 149gr SP's it would shoot less than 1" once 3 rounds in 1 hole!. But I wanted to handload it for hunting, My experience was this, with many different .308, .310, .311, & .312 from 110-150gr bullets, many different powders, I couldn't get that gun to shoot at 100 yards at all!!! If it was factory military surplus, It shot like a bench rest gun, with handloads no joy, I spoke to powder companies, they advised all reloading manuals give data for AK's & SKS's, not strong bolt actions like CZ's, you could go quite a bit more over max, but then you run into compression issues, the stick powders mainly used & accurate take up toooo much room, plus it's the bore size correct is .310/.311. I believe CZ uses .310, so .308 don't stabilize well unless compressed loaded or using Corbon 125 or 150gr, they use .308 bullets in their loads. After extensive testing, my opinion, it was the throats & bore combination of my rifle, It liked military factory ammo, the opposite of what I wanted it for. I searched for a Ruger m77 7.62x39mm bc they used .308 bores, but at the time I couldn't find one. I sold the CZ, I miss the rifle, just not my rifle if ya get my meaning, I have a pre-ban mini 30 with a lot of hi cap pre ban mags, not easy to find for those rifles, I don't have to have them here I should sell them and use my factory hi caps only. plus I have a TON of factory new 5 & 10rounds I never use either. I also built an AR in it and after setting up right, it runs great and very accurate but I can't shoot rifle's now due to my shoulder and am selling it. There's my 2cents. Love the caliber for hunting.

A friend of mine bought the CZ carbine a few years back, and 2 or 3 different case lots of military ammo. He dropped it off with ammo and scope and rings new in box and said , try it out. I shot military ammo only, but was somewhat impressed with the little package. The trigger pull set up very nicely, I my have choosen a different scope, but what he sent worked. After about 6 months passed, he came looking for it, all set up and ready to go, I liked it enough it was hard to let go.

mine is newer, ( not one of the earlier guns ) & has the adjustable single set trigger... & seems quite capable... would think with the Prvi soft points I'm shooting in it for the reloadable brass, that it would make a nice light shorter distance deer rifle

Very accurate, and the PRVI and other military ammo, wolf, etc should be very accurate in it. watch the Russian or Czech military it's corrosive.

I wanted to buy an action for the 7.62x39. I have a Royal stock and want to do a Quarterbore on the .440 boltface.
Money changed and I may have to sell some knives to finance it.
Anyway......
I'm a 527 tramp. 5 of them. All in 223.....rifle,carbine,full stock and a pair of Royals for my daughter and myself.
All shoot better than I do.
The bolt lugs are wider, longer and larger in diameter than the Mini Mark X. And that came in 22-250.
Threads on the CZ are bigger to.
So I may do a rebated rim and go bigger.

I have a couple CZ Americans that don't have the set triggers... one in 22 Hornet, one in 223 and a little longer barrels... I like the carbine enough, that I have considered trading both towards matching calibers in the carbine

I have found that rifles chambered for the 7.62x39 are kinda like a 22lr rifles . If you go through enough mil-surp ammo you will find ammo it likes. Then 4 or 5 strokes with a medium flat mill bastard file and the hollow point opens up. Accuracy does not suffer and I have never lost a white tail. Just be sure its non-corrosive ammo……………………………..JJ

I'll admit to that as well even though I 527-less now. Had a 527 .22 Hornet with the SST that was a joy to shoot and I waited too long to get the x39. By the time I decided I wanted one they were either unobtanium or way over what I wanted to spend. I still have my 452 .22 LR so I'm not totally out of the CZ club but I'm not as deep into it as I want to be either...

A neat little trick is load ammo with 32 caliber XTP pistol bullets and Unique powder. You have an instant 32-20 rimless great for small game hunting.

I'm still gonna get one!!!! Here's to getting one sooner rather than later! This thread is putting a serious strain on my plan for a .41 Mag to be my next purchase. I've got around 2K of Wolf and surplus 7.62x39 and just an SKS to feed. Had a small ring Mauser chambered for it that I sold after one range trip because it just didn't grab me. OTOH .41 Mag will be a whole new caliber to feed...
