Has anyone bought or shot one of these .22's yet? If so would my money be better spent on the Smith or for a few dollars more, a Browning? I've shot a Browning .22 before, was a nice pistol.

I'd recommend checking out the new Ruger MK IV. Ruger made some significant improvements. The takedown is greatly simplified and the magazine disconnect and loaded chamber indicator are gone..

Well if this pistol was for me specifically I'd give the conversion a big consideration. This pistol will be mainly for my wife. She has a thing for the Browning .22's and she kinda liked the Smith Victory but she hasn't shot one. She likes the Ruger .22 revolvers but likes the trigger on a semi auto better. I'll get her to look at the Ruger Mark IV and see what she thinks. Thanks Axe.

Plus one on this. Bought one right after Axe said he had ordered a pair. Mine is mounted on a customized Colt Delta Elite lower. I ordered the one with the threaded barrel (can be ordered without threads). I handled a S&W Victory today at the local pusher's shop. I was surprised at the size and weight of the gun. I know it is for your wife, but to me the Nelson/Delta elite conversion doesn't feel any heavier than the Victory, feels much better in the hand and has a much better trigger. I would also bet that accuracy wise the Nelson wins hands down. Just my two cents. Paul

I'd go for the Mk IV or the (mk iii) 22/45 LITE. The Lite is a very nice gun! I have a full weight 22/45 and it's a great out-of-the-box shooter!

I started with a Ruger Mk. I Target, and have been a fan of the Mk II for decades, owning a number of them. Here's one more vote for you to look at the new Mk IV !

I pretty much love all semi auto .22's and have owned a bunch. They range from the Beretta Bobcat to the huge Ruger Mark III Hunter. Have also tried a couple of the 1911 conversion kits. Just ordered a Mark IV Target so will have it in my hands by the end of next week. Each one points and handles differently. Am mentioning this because this is one thing you wife needs to do it person. Take her to a gun store and have her handle as many different models as she can then don't try to persuade her one way or another. What momma picks is what momma will like and shoot the most.

I went to look at the new Ruger MK IV Hunter at my local gun store and compared it with the S&W Victory, the S&W just fell better in my hand. Long story short, I now own two Victory' s one with the threaded barrel. Very easy to take apart for cleaning plus several after market user installed parts.

Oh thunder, I learned a long time ago not to pick guns for my wife. Her first was a Smith Model 10 four inch heavy barrel (laser accurate) her second was a Glock model 17 Gen 1, her third was a Glock model 19, her fourth was a Bond Arms derringer with .357 and .22 magnum barrels and pink grips and her fifth was a Glock model 43. My wife picks out all her guns. My job is to keep her stocked with ammo and take her shooting. And no, I never give her shooting advice.

My wife picked out a Victory camo about two weeks ago. We haven't shot it yet. It is highly customizable so could easily change barrels, etc. If desire.
Always worth checking out the Ruger and Browning too.
Encourage having her handle and pick out her favorite.

Dad got my nephew a Victory last month (combo birthday/Christmas present) and they broke it in yesterday. Dad says it's easier to breakdown than his Buckmark and he likes the fiber optic sights better than the Buckmark irons. I specifically asked about the triggers my nephew said both triggers felt about the same.
I have not handled the Victory and my Buckmark is a 5.5" Field model so I don't think it would be an apples to apples comparison anyway.

I have 3 Rugers, MkII and MKIII with 1 being a competition model. And I almost hate to say that I like my Smith Victory better. Handling, trigger are great . And the competition barrel doesn't hurt any.
