I found a left hand 375 Ruger for a great price. Does anyone have experience with the 375 Ruger? My plans are to use the rifle when I get back to Alaska.

I have one of the earlier left handed Africans which I got when they were blowing them out of inventory to make room for the new ones with the muzzle break. I mostly play around with cast loads as there nothing in the UP which needs the thump that the 375 offers. The throat is tight on my rifle and most of the normal 38-55 molds require very deep seating to chamber. I have a bore rider mold from Accurate that shoots well and chambers properly but the meplat is a bit too big and gets chewed up when feeding from the magazine. www.accuratemolds.com/bullet_detail.php?bullet=38-300A-D.pngI'd like to try the NOE 275 gr bullet as that looks like it'll chamber and feed smoothly. noebulletmolds.com/NV/product_info.php?cPath=52_230&products_id=1723&osCsid=bbhelgkqpu4v9dnfarg1qi7qd4The only jacketed bullets I shot were the old 300 gr RN Hornady's which are now discontinued. Update on the 375 Ruger Alaskan laminate. Received a shipping notification with a tracking number saying my rifle will be at my LGS November 2... so far I'm really excited as this will probably be my one and only big game rifle.
Great experience with CDNN Sports Inc. I hope to do business from them again

I own the exact same rifle. Ended up bedding it in a McMillin stock. Feeding was "interesting". If I worked the rifle fast everything cycled perfectly. Slow, the 2nd round down would hang up. Had my smith polish the rails and ramp and changed out the magazine spring and then all was well. Great rifle to carry in the thick stuff where big critters live. CDNN's price makes them the buy of the century.
Also own one of the lefty Hawkeyes in 338 RCM. 20 inch barrel, factory iron sights. Mine is accurate and handy in the woods. CDNN is selling both the 300 and 338 RCM's for $499!!! I am giving serious thought into buying one in 300 RCM.

Update on the 375 Ruger: I picked up yesterday right before noon or so. I was blown away by the quality, balance and the way it handled in my hands. I may get flack for saying this but holding my new Ruger 375 was just like handling my marlin XLR 45-70. I love this rifle and for $619 shipped to my LGS can't beat it.
Now the fun part of finding reloading components, and let the fun begin!

Hey bigbore5shot Congrats on the new 375! I'd love to see some pics of her and range report after you get her out dancing... Enjoy the new rifle and the hunt for good loads and game. Like the "handle" to. BigBore44 PS Are you gonna scope it or run opens/irons? Is it peep sight ready or capable (? Can't think of correct terminology ATM?)

NECG makes a peep sight which mounts in the scallops for the scope rings. Well made but it is very much a hunting sight to be set and left alone.

Now you have me thinking.............maybe I will dig mine out and take it deer hunting this year. Absolutely... Why not? That's what its meant for after all, NOT Punchin Paper!
I'm gonna use my new Kimber Montana 338 Win Mag for deer if I get a chance to go to my buddies huntin cabin. I'll still be packin my Bisley 44spl for a closer shot if it happens But, the 338 will get the nod if I see something further out.
I Don't play the Too Much gun or Overkill game. I just don't believe in it! I bet my 338WM loaded right will be far less destructive than some Super Duper Hi-Vel rounds....
I hope you get'er out and use & enjoy it... Now get to huntin down some components and, Fire'r Up!!!

I don't mind "big medicine" for deer:). The last one I shot with my 338 Ruger Compact Magnum.
