Recently I mentioned where a little 4 year old girl was grabbed and dragged off by a Mountain Lion here in Idaho, the parents were able to scare the lion away & save their daughter. Just a few days ago & south of here 60 miles a bow hunter was walking into his bowhunting bling when he noticed a Lion watching him. He looked at it & then walked on down & got in his ground blind & the big cat approached within 15 yds. The hunter started making a lot of noise hoping to scare the cat away but it just got more aggressive & walked up within 7 yds growling & he shot it with his bow & it ran off. The man left & contacted the Fish & Game & then went in & found the cat dead about 100 yds from where the bowhunter had shot it. Lucky guy. Earlier last week 2 different elk hunters were attacked by Grizzly bears just outside the Park, one was tracking an elk he had shot with his bow when the bear took him down. The other bow hunter was bugling for elk when a Grizzly attacked him from behind, both hunters survived but were chewed up pretty good. Dick

A few issues back, think it was F&S, had a blurb about an east of the Miss. River state, considering transplanting cougars in to help with the deer population. Guess they'll have all the cougars sign contracts to only kill deer..Adult type people should really know better by now.

When you venture into their domain it's bound to happen. Glad things worked out for the hunters so far.

The "venture" thing. After a century or three or four, or, of shooting and trapping predators that are threat to us, our kids , our livestock..there was little to concern us unless we ventured. This is what has changed. I've been growled at, foot stomped warned, by a black bear, here in my own yard, in NE Ohio. You do not have to venture anywhere anymore to be at risk from injury to you or loved ones or pets or livestock anymore. This part of Ohio has been settled, farmed, since before the Civil War, not new growth, development kinda thing here. A mind set thing needs to happen. We brought back the turkey, the deer..a food source that allows for more predators. The same ones heavily protected at a time when few trap or run hounds for said predators. Predator populations follow prey populations, if we let them, and we have. So..here we are. For myself, I enjoy it, but warn others to beware.
