Was in the shop I haunt and got to looking at the double rifles again seeing as how my right arm is still being an issue. He offered me a deal on my choice of a new Sabatti dbl rifle in 450-400 or a used Chapuis dbl rifle in 9.3x74.... and that Chapuis had about the prettiest pc of timber ive ever seen. Whats the pros and cons to these twl. Ive heard good and bad about the Sabattis and the Chapuis has always been good.... but then I dont know everything so 😆😆

Depends on the price and what caliber you have use for. The newer Sabattis have been getting good reviews as opposed to a few years ago. The Chapuis is usually a lot more tariff, and usually has better reviews being a more established maker. Did you get the choice for the same price? The two rounds are totally different of course and would not fill the same needs. I have had Ruger No.1 rifles in both calibers and currently have one in the 9.3x74R, sold the big boy, kicked too hard. Comes down to which caliber is more useful and the price for each.

Yes I can get either for the same price. Now the Chapuis is a caliber that from what Ive read can take anything in north america including Alaska. Ive read where its used in Afruca successfully as well. The Sabatti is the big boomer but my chances of really needing it.... well I see the 9.3 doing it unless a elephant gets out if the zoo. 😆

For the same money I would go for the Chapuis, much more useful round and yes its good for just about anything that walks if loaded right.

I have found the Chapuis in 9.3 x 74R to be a quick handling double rifle. The cartridge falls behind the .375 H&H, but still offers plenty of oomph for most any game on earth. I have no experience with the Sabatti.

I have owned two Chapuis's, both UGEX models with ejectors. One in caliber 30R Blaser and the other in 9,3x74R. Used the 9,3 to shoot several moose. Never had an issue with either rifle. Only negative is they usually have a high comb for shooting iron sights and the cheek hurts after a practice session. Add a scope and the issue goes away. The 9,3's are pretty light for the caliber. Makes for a handy rifle to carry. I vote for the Chapuis.

The Chapuis has a reputation for being easy to build a regulation load for it. They usually like a lot of different brands of powder and bullets.

The 9.3 is a great Alaska round and Chapuis are fine rifles.
