I find loading data for H4227 but no IMR4227. Anyone know where to find any info or can you substitute the H4227 data for the DuPont 4227? Thanks

jefats, I think most shooters consider them about the same but here is some data from the new Lyman #50 Handloaders Manual for the 480 using 4227 powder.
IMR 4227 maximum load with a 275 gr. jacketed 31.5 grs 1585 fps 45,200 PSI
H 4227 maximum load with a 275 gr. jacketed 32.6 grs 1680 fps 46,299 PSI
IMR 4227 maximum load with a 325 gr. jacketed 26.8 grs 1378 fps 46,200 PSI
H 4227 maximum load with a 325 gr. jacketed 27.2 grs 1453 fps 46,100 PSI
IMR 4227 maximum load with a 400 gr. jacketed 21.0 grs 1142 fps 46,800 PSI
H 4227 maximum load with a 400 gr. jacketed 21.0 grs 1186 fps 44,400 PSI
Reduce 2 grs to start

Hodgens own 2015 manual shows some 480 bullets with one, some with the other, none with both, though they show data with both H110 and WW296 on all ! With a CCI350/25gr of IMR4227 and a 325XTP, found a load that seems near to the factory loading. Brian Pearce says 26.3grs of H110 will equal the factory loading. I'm not quite comfortable saying you can swap data for the two 4227's yet, but I'll read further here and pop back in if I find something conclusive. Certainally you can just call Hodgens.

My Lyman 3rd Edition Pistol & Revolver Handbook, says the same as what Sixshot posted already. The Hodgen doesn't seem to have further info, but the 4227's are listed next to each other on the burn rate chart, 'id not go too far with that thought though. I bet someone here would definitively know. Hodgens phone number 913-362-9455 What specific bullet are you wanting to use ?

They show IMR4227 for the 355gr BTB LFN GC. Strats at 25grs and maxs at 28.0 and notes this is compressed. They show a velo 1485 fps and 46,500 PSI, for that 28.0 gr compressed load. Luck.

Thanks bulasteve, Think I can work with that and begin with the starting load of 25 grains. When you say "they" who are you meaning? If memory serves, usually the DuPont powders were listed to burn a bit faster on the charts than their Hodgdon counterparts i.e. 4350 and 4831, except 4227 which was just the opposite. Anyone recall that? I could be wrong🤔
