I really like the sourdough pancake holster I use for my redhawk, but it sits too high when I have a large pack on. And coupled with the pachmayr grips my pack not only hits the gun it grabs a hold of it. I also have a Simply Rugged Cattlemen for one of my blackhawks, but it isn't as secure as I would like without a strap. Anyone got any recommendations for something that sits lower than the sourdough but more secure than the cattlemen.

Check out the Hank Sloan in the Barranti Direct Line. Turnaround on those is exceptional. I have probably 6 of that model for various Sixguns and have used them hunting, working on the tractors etc and never had a retention issue and it protects the gun well.

My friend Leahy also makes a chest rig that might fit your needs.

My 69 fits this Galco perfectly Also have an old Bianchi 5BHL marked "Colt 357" that is a perfect fit for the 69.

That Galco can be carried strong side or cross draw. May help when carrying with your pack. By far my favorite holster for my Redhawk.
