so as some of you guys may know, this year I've been buying factory ammo to put under my reloading cases for a dependable supply & in case I die, the loaded factory ammo would be worth more, & easier to sell than handloads... trying to have 1/2 to 2/3 loaded factory ammo for each caliber I already had several 1000 R-P 223 cases, so that the cases are the same, I've been buying Remington factory ammo, bought less than 1000 rounds so far, maybe about 600 or so... I like to put my ammo in 50 round plastic hinge top boxes... found this one last night... think there are more than one of these per 1000, or I just got lucky???

So was it seated crooked and split the neck or was the neck not opened up enough before they seated it?

The one round I had like that was also Remington, a 7x64 round. With the millions of rounds put out by the big ammo makers, its not unreasonable to have one of these pop up occasionally.

I had a round of Rem-UMC 30 Carbine in which the bullet was seated extremely crooked leaving a substantial bulge in the neck. I took a photo and sent it to Remington with a note containing the lot number and asking if others were reporting a similar problem. They sent back a nice note and a voucher for $40 worth of free ammunition. I gave the voucher to a kid down the road and I thought they handled it very well.
