You need an L frame or a GP100 for the .41 special...at least for a rechambering project. Don't know if the K frame 5 shot is possible but since the L frame works well there's no sense in the K frame.
I have 2 of the L frame guns Bowen did for me. You can probably find them searching...

I have a five-shot 44 Special built on a 5" 686 gun so an "L frame. I bought it needing to be put together from a guy on the S&W forum. He had the barrel bored and reinstalled, it came with a five-shot 696 cylinder and other parts to be fitted with several yokes if I am remembering correctly, my local gunsmith put it together for me & it works great, it is the only S&W 44 caliber I own with the right size throats, but whoops, I forgot my 1957 4 screw birthday year 44 Magnum or pre-29 that gun has acceptable throats too. But my three other S&W 44 Magnums & 44 Special are way oversized. Attachments:

I was thinking a guy should take one of the new model 19 or 66 with the two-piece barrel system, and get a 32 cal made up. If a guy had to have a new cylinder made up, you could have a few rounds added to it. Just thinking there might be something good about the two-piece barrel system. Now Smith could offer it easy, a different cylinder and a different pipe.

There are a lot of folks who have yelled and pleaded with S&W to build a K frame 32 H&Rmag again. The SW 16-4 K-32 Masterpiece now has daily escalating prices and are quite hard to find. I believe the original K-32 Masterpiece was a .32 SW long; but the continuation of that line became the model 16 ?
I think it is a spectacular idea, but I'm pretty sure S&W has moved on. They dropped the ball on all their revolvers IMO. It was just a business decision for them; but for us, it was a death knell for beloved sixguns.
I believe several shooters have had a k frame, model 15?, made by using a SW model 17 or 18 cylinder and barrel reamed out to .32. A member here, Green Frog, I believe is one who has had it done. Maybe he will chime in.
