Anyone hunt in California? Or live there? I have upcoming work there, ( North of Frisco area) and was wondering if it might be possible to hunt, and just what to expect? Maybe hog or varmints,, Not too sure about anything else.

The central coast of California has a sizable wild hog population. I know of an outfitter out there that has great results. Let me locate his contact info.

I would appreciate that help. I did look on the net before I posted this, and was not sure of the outfitters. I was curious about the "no lead" deal too. I am quite sure I will be faced with it. The Garrett cartridges have been accurate in my guns and would be my first choice, but may have to go a different route. And you were right about the central coast area of Cali having the hogs. I should not be but a 2-3 hour drive from where I will be.

I have a SIL who lives in San Rafael and he's hunted hogs a couple times with friends, who have access to some land - they invite him occasionally, as he's a pretty good cook and carries more than his weight around camp. It is my understanding that if you don't know someone that has "free" access to good hunting land - well, it can get pretty expensive otherwise.
Not sure about having to use "no lead" on private land, as he uses an AR with reloaded Nosler 64 grain bonded bullets.

Thanks Max I will give them a shout.
Joel I am not taking an AR with me. I will also not have that kind of time frame. Just one maybe two days off at a time from work. But Thanks.

I suggest giving Wade Derby a call at Crosshair Consulting and discuss these hunts with him. I have done a handful of hunts with him (Texas, BC, Africa) and am currently booked for buffalo/sable in Zimbabwe and brown bear on Kodiak. Top notch guy, straight shooter and recently retired LEO. www.crosshairconsulting.com/hunt21.htmlwww.crosshairconsulting.com/hunt23.htmlwww.crosshairconsulting.com/hunt35.html
