Anyone else have a problem with varying charge weights when using Unique?

In my dillon 550 press unique will vary about 2 to 3/10 of a grain. The loaded rounds shoot just fine, very accurate out of a les baer 1911

IME that's pretty common with Unique and the larger flake powders. It doesn't really seem to harm anything, though, as others have stated.

Yep, just dealing with today loading some 9mm, if it gets within 2-3 tenths that's about it. If working up test loads, I will weigh each one when at max, assuming just a few to 5 rounds. Also loaded some Power Pistol, no issues with that.

Mine throws changes fairly consistent (barely above or below the setting on scale ). Have you tried both of the drums to see if you can get better consistency with one or the other?

I use my Dillons a lot with my Unique loads & as noted above,,, there can be a minor variation due to the flake type powders. I also use it in my Uniflow's with the small drum. I use Unique as my match powder in a few different calibers. I shoot USPSA, and we have to meet a minimum power factor. I know that variations in different chrono's & locations can make a difference, so I have a load that is a bit above the squeaky close needed for PF. (For major, I need a p/f of 165 & I load mine at the 169-170 mark.) I've never failed chrono using Unique with this attitude,,, just in case I get an odd round where the flake powder does vary too much. But, when I'm chronoing, I'm not seeing a large variation.
