suppressor sights... did a search & couldn't find anything here on this gun... hate to go along & ask about every higher capacity 45 out there... but I'm mostly a revolver guy, so I can use all the help I can get so if you've read this, this far... if you can't recommend the XDM threaded... how about a recommendation for a higher capacity 45 with a spot for a light/ laser, & a threaded barrel, in a reasonable price range, as I'd be adding a light, or a laser & a can...

Definitely a G41 fan when it comes to a tupperware 45. Worthwhile to note that some pocket pools shooters shot XDs at Camp Perry this year. Springfield gave guns to those who shot the XD well..

I believe that. I have an XDS 4.0 in .45 and an XD Mod2 Service in 9mm. They are both good shooters and reliable but when it comes to tweaking a plastic fantastic pistol Glock takes the cake.

I just can't do the earlier Glock "2 X 2" grips... are the gen 4 Glocks a better fit ( offer up changeable grip panels like a lot of the other plastic guns )
also since this is going to be a night stand gun, size & weight are not so much a concern... I'd actually prefer a steel or SS gun, but finding one with a small rail, & threaded barrel gets tougher... especially when you throw in the "reasonable" price range... with plans of a laser or light, & a can, I'd like to stay around or under $800.00 for the gun, with the threaded barrel
I'll check out the links... will admit it's been a couple years since I've looked at a Glock ( actually probably 3-4 years... since I went in with the intention to buy a Glock 10 mm, & ended up walking out with a Witness, solely because of the grip fit...)

couldn't get the Guns America link to open. but looked at a couple on Gun Broker... looks like it comes with 6 grip scales 3 fronts & 3 backs... assume they are all interchangeable for a good variety of grip configurations... hmmm... looking at it again... maybe it is just 5 different backs to the grip??? Nope found another picture... looks like 3 fronts & 3 rear grip scales
on that XDM that I was looking at, it had taller sights for use with a can... I assume that most autos would require taller sights???
BTW... the 41 looks about what I'd want to spend... just a little over with a threaded barrel... will definitely put it on my list... you guys are thinking it's one of the better higher capacity 45's with the intended use of putting a can on it???

My opinion is the Glock is much easier to adapt for your particular needs than the Springfield. Word to the wise, if you end up going with the Springfield be sure you get the sights on it that you want from the start. I've had to send both of my XD's to Springfield for sight changes because a mere mortal sight pusher will not push XD sights! I don't know what Springfield does when they install sights but they make damn sure you can't remove them. I've read where guys end up taking a Dremel tool and cutting them out! With Golcks there is no such problem. There are 3 grip adapters that come with the gen4 Glocks. All attach to the back of the frame to "fit" your size mitt. The grip angle on a Glock takes some getting used to but a shooter with your experience shouldn't have much a problem. Glocks are just so easy to play with for the owner himself because of all the aftermarket support. You can go from mild to wild without the need for a smith with a 2-3 year waiting list. It's hard to really screw them up but if you do replacement parts are plentiful and relatively inexpensive. Sorry about the link not working. Let's try another one. This is a decent review of the 41. www.gundigest.com/firearm-gun-reviews/glock-41-review-glock-rocks

I'm not sure what your definition of "reasonable price" is, but two I have are the FN FNP 45 Tactical. (The FNX has now replaced the FNP and the mags do not interchange). It is a full capacity 45, threaded for a suppressor, and comes with suppressor night sights. I placed a Docter red dot on mine.
The other one is a Sig 227, I bought a threaded 220 barrel from Sig that dropped right in. They make the P227 Tactical now that is already set up correctly. Both of these do night stand duty for me.
If you want to build your own, there is always the Glock 21 that can have a threaded barrel added, along with suppressor sights. I thought I read somewhere that Glock has built a threaded barrel 21. Just be aware, the factory threaded barrel G-17s and G-19s came with metric threads, I don't know what pitch the G-21 is threaded to. My Lone Wolf barrel is .578 X 28 TPI. That is sort of the standard for 45 pistols. Good luck on your quest!

Choose the Glock for all the reasons posted thus far but don't forget the XD has the edge on ergonomics with its' grip contour(vs the G21 specifically) and many do prefer the grip angle as well.

On Gen 4 Glocks... I've put my G41 and G34 in front of people and asked people to tell me which one was the 45 and which was the 9mm.. If they can't see the bore or the hood marking they can't.

Traded my last Glock for a 5" XD several years ago and don't miss it. It has been dead reliable. For me, they're more comfortable and easier to shoot. The new threaded version is on my short list.

went to the shooters round up this last Saturday... greatly improved my score on the Sportsman's Challenge from last year... only missed 2 semi auto handgun stages ( & hit 3 of 4 on the 1st & 1 of two on the 2nd )... I guess I need to practice shooting CCW guns at 50 feet ... stood and watched the triples shot gun stage a little before I shot it... thought I had it this year ( only 4-5 shooters out of 1000's pass that stage ) I hit the 1st 2... & rushed my 3rd shot just a little, & got a miss on the 3rd bird, so no pass... need to hit all 3... got the 2 hits needed on the rabbit stage this year ( missed one last year ) stuck the tomahawk ( missed last year ) ... was not happy with the local politician that had a stage... he had a 5 question test... I did not know who the 1st Gov of MN was, so I couldn't pass that stage... 16 stages & not one revolver... going to have to start complaining, since last year they only had a Judge in one stage ( the only revolver )... & nearly half the stages are on the Cowboy Action range... just seems wrong to not to include a revolver of some sort out of 16 stages... they allowed 2 mulligans for stages you couldn't pass, but apparently you had to make them at the stage, they couldn't do it at the check in... both my buddy & I would have qualified for the big prizes ( guns ) if we would have done the mulligans correctly oh... BTW... shot in the pouring rain all day... parked the the hay field, that turned into a mud bog factory reps were there... so I got to shoot the 45's I've been looking at... Glock 41, the Springfield with the threaded barrel & raised suppressor sights, & the Ruger American 45... I must really not be a Glock guy... as the 41 was the most expensive, & my least favorite of the 3... the Ruger functioned perfect ( but you would expect that the factory rep would make sure the trial guns all functioned perfectly ) it was probably my favorite... but since it's new enough that they don't offer a threaded barrel, were I buying a new Duty sized 45 today ( I've been looking at one that would mount a light or laser & has a threaded barrel for a suppressor, for a new home defense gun )... I think I'd probably pick the Springfield since it's ready to go, & I shot it well...
