I do miss the days when transfer cases had shifters instead of knobs or buttons. Not sure I miss shifting gears though. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

While I love these gorgeous trucks you guys have, I just don't live in that world. I did however just get a new pickup and spent more on it than I have ever spent on a vehicle. Wife wants us to move into a fifth wheeler so you gotta be able to pull it. Nothing fancy but it is a 3/4 ton that the previous owner had setup for a fifth wheel so she should be ready to go. Got the small V8 in hopes of better fuel economy but 10mpg seems to be the sweet spot (if you can call it that). Craig- a fellow at work got one a lot like yours and boy is it something else.

I'm with you Craig, transfer cases should have shifters! That little knob on the dash just makes me nervous.

Good looking F250! I don't know if I'd call any of the gas motors fuel efficient. My 6.0 Chevy got 12mpg around town/mixed driving, 14mpg on the interstate and as low as 7mpg if I was towing anything. I initially wanted the 6.4 V8 but 900ft-lbs coupled with 18mpg and a lot better towing manners sold me on the diesel. This will be the first truck I've ever owned that will live its life with a stock exhaust system. I guess I'm getting old because I love how quiet it is.
What these trucks cost now is shameful. This new one cost 2.5 times what the old truck did. Of course, if the old truck was as equipped and appointed as this one, it would've cost a lot more too! I'm just truly blessed to have been able to get exactly what I wanted this time.
I guess I grew up at a time when A/C, power steering and power brakes were nearly considered luxury options. I love all the electronic crap, heated and cooled leather seats, power everything, USB ports, SD card slots and compatibility with an iPod but I'll be damned if I don't really want a shift lever on my transfer case. Buttons and knobs make me nervous too! Because if you 'need' 4wd, you really don't need some electronic foolishness to malfunction. I don't know who decided that jerking a lever back to 4HI or 4LO was such a chore.

Decided last October to save some money from the tax man so upgraded my 2002 2500HD with Duramax and Allison to a late 2015 version. Drove the Ford and Dodge but just like the interior and quietness of the Chevy. I am not a big badge fan so all the stickers, emblems etc cam off except for the Duramax label on the hood which the wife wanted left on. This is also the first new truck I bought that did not get a custom wheel upgrade. I must be getting old but I just really like these factory optional 20" polished wheels. I just pay the local Tire Factory to swap the summer tires back and forth with the mud ans snows for the winter months. The really nice thing is going down the highway at 70-75 it still gets right at 20 mpg ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) . ![](http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd106/rbrbrb6/IMG_0914_zpsoazrhwrf.jpg)

My F-250 is definitely the nicest truck I've ever owned and I'm tickled with it to no end, I don't know that I'd be any happier with a brand new one. The 5.4ltr V8 is kind of a compromise, the diesels I looked at were a whole lot more money and the bigger V8's & 10's just seemed like power I didn't need. I found a few with T case shifters but they all seemed to be the bare bones trucks which the wife vetoed. She decided since we're getting rid of her car when we hit the road then a few amenities were required. Can't complain, it's not every wife that forces a guy to get rid of a Ranger and get an F-250!

CJ3A, the inside of mine has those shifters too! You are correct about old habits dying hard, of the 7 or 8 pickups I have owned all have been manual transmissions. The autos just could not hold-up behind the diesels, however the one in the past few years seem to be up to the task but I still couldn't bring myself to buy one.

I stripped all that crap off my old truck. The flares, the side molding, the "4x4" stickers and all the badging except the "2500" on the doors. The dealer already removed the badging from the other dealer and I told them not to put on theirs so there's little of that for me to do with this one.
GMC has a really nice 20" wheel but I wasn't real nuts about the Dodge 20" wheel option so I decided to put that $1400 towards a set of aftermarket wheels. The stock tires look like they came off an airplane and probably wouldn't do much in wet grass.

I really miss the side vent windows of my old truck. Not sure why they ever went away.

Last vehicle I had vent windows in was an early `90's Chevy work van. I used them all the time.

Vent windows AND a diesel... Took two trucks to get there. '94 Dodge and a 55 Ford. Sitting in Boge Quinn's driveway too... Daddy bought the Dodge new. I traded for the Ford the Month we lost Daddy. ![](http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z110/agb1368/55%20F100/AtBoges-2_zpsc71d6f72.jpg)

Hard to beat the trucks from the `50's for pure cool! Cars too, I keep driving past a `53 Chevy that's been calling my name for about 2yrs now. Then the hot rod dealer in Corinth put the `55 Cadillac Coupe up for sale that I rented for our wedding. Oh the temptation! Which reminds me. We were in Pigeon Forge last year when the big hot rod show was in town. In a sea of cool customs, perfect restorations and muscle cars, this is what I lusted after the most. ![](http://photos.imageevent.com/newfrontier45/autoii/large/IMG_0131.JPG)

Upon retirement last year I went in another direction for a new ride. A 73 Mach 1 351 Cleveland 4 speed toy. ![](http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa437/boxhead61/IMG_1412_zpsguwz8qfg.jpg)

My favorite truck resides on the north Idaho property. A '99 F150 4x4. I like it more than my 2014 Texas based Tundra. ![](http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa437/boxhead61/EdImport16Sept517.jpg)

Nice truck! Still driving a 95 F250 Stoker with nearly 200K on it. That Dodge is nice.
