I totally agree with you, Fermin. I have felt for some time that police officers need to be better trained, equipped, and armed. In response to the current trend of murdering police officers, the Chicago PD has removed shotguns from patrol cars - without replacing them with a rifle (or another shotgun)! Talk about a huge step backwards! As the U.S. Army and Marine Corps (re)discovered 13 years ago, sending groups of people into urban combat in thin-skinned, unarmored vehicles is tantamount to murder. I can only hope that our nations law enforcement agencies will not make the same mistakes. We had also better hope that the bad guys don't start using IEDs on a routine basis! I was a Marine in Iraq during the initial invasion in 03 and convey security out of Ramadi in 04. We used to make fun of the army for having all that shit on their vehicles. I remember when all we had was sand bags on the floors of our Humvees and vests duct taped to the drivers door. Gunners just sitting up there with no protection but their vigilance. Sure we had injuries. Phelps took a bullet to the head but the driver Smith pulled his dead body down and sent the shooters to alah. I remember when Smith took abullet to the leg and got pissed off. His response was " mother fucker shot me in my leg" he couldn't pulled down until he had lost enough blood to be weak enough to be forced down from blood loss. Garcia got half his face blown to shit and kept passing out but would jump back up and commanding his team to post security and strip the vehicle. Lots of fun memories from back in the day. I know I have started to digress, but if I ran my team like I did back than I would be in trouble. I am not a Law enforcement Officer. The men next to me are my first priority. Never at any time was one of my Marine brothers color an issue.

Update: On channel 11 news last night there was a segment about the Grand Prairie Police dept. All 251 Police officers as of this week have received some sort of Ambush Training. What was aired on the segment was showing officers called in to a situation and then using shoot and move tactics. The Gentleman giving the training stated that the Grand Prairie Police were going to take the fight to the perp instead of hiding and waiting. Of course the news media had to get involved and one of them dressed up in the protective gear and acted the part of the "Bad Guy" attacking first a single officer then when he hid and came back out from cover the other officers who had arrived on the scene dispatched him very quickly. Rifles were used on both side of this "enactment."
Hopefully more will listen or heed the call to better training
