I got this from Axe, not quite like this though. He'd mentioned somewhere sometime he had one he'd let go. I bought it sight unseen and had him send it to Jack. There's still honor amongst men. Jack made it a 327, CCH'd the receiver, lever, and hammer. He slicked up the action (boy howdy). I asked him while the barrel was off to slick it up and reblue it. He 600'd the pipe and it's a gorgeous blue/black. Now comes the fun part and where I need your help. I have the 8 shot 327 Alan built for me and I have the recipe he recommended. This is a rifle and as such I'm sure there are recipes for different powders than 110. But does it really matter? These loads will all be chrono'd. Has anyone ever developed loads for a 357 pistol/rifle combo or 44 mag? Again, does it matter that the pipe is so much longer? Looking for knowledge here fellas, thank you. I'll post pics of the 8 shot with this soon as a thread on companion guns. If anyone wants to start a rifle/pistol combo thread please be my guest. Axe,, As far as most of the cartridges are concerned, when it comes to the smaller grain bullets you are OK. 1. The 44 mag shot great in both when it came to most stuff, but the 300-310 grain the rifle ( my rifle) did not like it as well. Also I might mention is the COAL came into play, and the bullets had to be seated deeper than I seated the same bullet in the pistol. Usually not a problem as most Mould makers offer 2 crimp grooves. Others here and the Marlin forum have not had problems such as mine, and I could have just simply stayed with the 240 grain stuff. 2. 357 Same thing for the most part as far as length goes. But the easy thing was you could load up a 38 SPl case and use the 170-173 grain bullets. ( if the rifle did not want to chamber them in the normal way.) The rifles have different twists and that plays a little part in the effects of accuracy. But mostly I have found that the rifles are usually much more accurate. I think the 357 rifle is awesome and it should have been there at the beginning. (same with the 327) 3. 327 ? I can only dream or wish. You should not have any problems unless you try using the heavy fodder, such as some kind of Hammer. As long as it makes it over the corner or over the hump. You got it made. Most of the rifles will handle the pressures that the sixshot pistols will. ( This is true in all calibers) I use a 360 grain pill in my 45 Trapper ( Rossi 92) and I just have to give a little more oomph when I shuck them. You should pick up at least 300 FPS with a 16" barrel compared to the pistol. 4. I want to throw in my 2 cents here, Loads in the rifles do not have to be barrel burning speed demons. We have shot cowboy loads out of my 45 Rossi and for small varmints and shooting that does not stomp on the shooters end is just plain fun. One year in Wy the Wrangler that was playing guide on the ranch, (where I was Pdog hunting),, Took my rifle and was shooting Pdogs and used up all my ammo. The 357 and the 327 are flat shooting and IMHO belong in a rifle just as much as a pistol. Wait make that a lever rifle. Trust me on this one, and please give me some feedback. If the truth be known a lot of people would enjoy shooting a little lever gun and getting away from some of the blast on the 327 Fed. Charles I forgot to compliment that rifle it is a beaut.

You are one big tease! That is exactly what Ben Forkin is doing to my 41 Cowboy and now I can not wait for it to get done. Great looking rifle is an understatement.
