Is it too much to ask that Smith and Wesson build a 327 mag similar to a 686 or model 66 ? I already have a single seven but love the feel of a buttery smooth slicked up S&W double action.

Been thinking about converting a Model 53 .22 Jet to .327. Rebore the barrel and rechamber the .22 Long Rifle cylinder...the dual firing pin system already takes care of that. A K38 with a rebored K22 barrel and cylinder would work also.
I'm hoping that Ruger will bring back their GP100 in .327 but this time with the same profile barrel as their new 5.5" .22 Rimfire gun...

S&W completely misread the cartridge and never got past thinking of it as a self defense snubby. A K frame sized trail gun would be a thing of beauty but they never got there and it would not be cheap to build. An alternative route for me was to find a 4" Ruger GP100 in .327. With a little work the trigger can be made very nice and the double action on mine is maybe better than some of my S&Ws. For now its the best option out there for a larger factory gun . Also available is the 4" SP101 model and it also requires/responds well to a spring swap and trigger job. It also makes a great trail gun. I would look to Ruger for your needs.
