NIce grips, what are they. Herrett's Ropers. Do they really help with dispersing recoil better?? For the cost they should. I've been wanting a set for when I get a 29 or 58 or 25 and so on or ho now just on my 28.

That is very subjective.
I like them, but I feel that the Classic grips by Eagle, which are similar is style have a bit more of a pronounced palm swell on the right hand side, and fill the void better, allowing a better grip.
Grips are an extremely individual thing though, and what works for one person, is a total flip of the coin, as to if it will work for another. That said, the Roper style is one that works for many.

I have a set on a 657 Hunter an just found a set for a Ruger Redhawk .41 Magnum...they work well... The standard black ones used to be on all my S&W Magnums...

Anyone have Nill Griffe grips on their S&W? I have a 629 4" that I was thinking of getting a set for.

Nill grips are very nicely made. I have a set of the Retro Cokes on a S&W 57 that are very comfortable to shoot. Checking isn't as aggressive as on the originals.

Thanks Bob. I was even thinking about the smooth grip model by Nill since they recommend that with 357 mag or bigger. What do you think?

I like Herretts quite a bit. For semi custom grips, they are a best buy. Some guys like the Jordan type, with enclosed back strap, for hard recoiling double actions. As mentioned above, individual hand geometry and shooting style vary, and what works for me may not for you.
Also worth mentioning are Craig Spegel's grips - he makes a really nice, slender "target" style grips that is close to the Roper, minus the palm swell. I'm not sure if Craig is taking orders right now, but it's worth keeping him in mind.

Thanks Bob. I was even thinking about the smooth grip model by Nill since they recommend that with 357 mag or bigger. What do you think? Have smooth grips on several of my .41s. I prefer them slightly smaller and rounded in the butt area to remove excess wood so my ring and pinky finger can get a better grip. I like the original S&W Coke style but don't care for the smooth Target version...just too much meat in the palm area. It also depends if you shoot more DA or SA. I prefer a smaller grip when shooting DA. Eagle Hammer on the left and Herrett Classics on the right...look the same but feel different. The Herretts slip more in my hand than the Hammers do... Nill Retro Cokes... 50 rounds DA with the Herretts...I ended up selling them. 1950s vintage Diamond Walnut... Old Herretts that have a slim bottom... Kulac (sp) smooth Cokes... Real Cokes... Hogue...can be had without the finger grooves and checking... ...hope I have not confused you....Bob

There are a lot of choices for sure. I was thinking of the Nill closed back one, but then shooting DA would be a problem. I like your old Herrett grips that have the narrow bottom. Also the Kulac grips look good with tha Palm swell. Thanks for pics. Marshall
