Went to a local gun show today. Found a NIB S&W 44 Special Heritage.
The gun is spectacular with the receiver case hardened by Turnbull. Brass bead front sight, bluing to make me weak in the knees.
A beautiful gun that I don't know if I can shoot.

I'll be anxious to see pictures of that one. I have a little affinity for the 44 Special.

Nice gun! Mine is a .45 Colt and it matches my triple-lock extremely closely, in profile if not action. I shoot mine, when I can pry it away from my boys! Congratulations on a smart pickup.

Can't post pictures from my phone, but this is an article about the gun. It's a bit different. www.milesfortis.com/mcump/mc02.htmSadly, my hope is this fine gun shoots anywhere nearly as good as my Pawn Shop Taurus.

After learning a bit more about them and how they were numbered for the first 150, I went back and reread the label.
"Color Case 05" is written on the box label. Am I to assume this is number 5 of 150?
Not much of a S&W guy here. Always been mostly Single Actions.

I purchased a 624 4" in early December of 2015, that had been engraved 1/3" coverage and Ivory magna grips. I bought it from a man who bought it new in the box had it engraved, added the Ivory then hung it on the wall. I bought the gun from him to help him out! Had it a month, got tired of looking at it in the safe and went out and put a box of 44 Specials through it. They are machines that speak to our soul, they are not fine china nor crystal. Use it don't abuse it!
My dilemma is I feel guilty owning a gun that cost that much money! I paid $1K for it, the most I ever spent on a firearm in my life! My first Browning HiPower was $78.00 straight from Browning in Morgan. It's been awhile.

I understand. I paid $861 for this one. Just gave almost that much for a NIB S&W 25 Classic. It's a basic gun, so I felt confident that this gun was worth the asking price.
NOTE: Was able to confirm this is revolver #5 of the first 150 built. Thanks to those who had input and helped with information.

I know the S&W collectors will hate me, but that's ok.
I strongly suspect this gun will become part of my 44 Special battery.
It's just dumb luck that it turned out to be what it is. Shooters and collectors are never going to agree, so no need in worrying about that.
People have certainly been great in helping me identify and learn about this gun.
I appreciate them and the forum members suggestions. Glad to see I'm among shooters and lovers of fine guns.

I'd have to shoot it & I'll bet it'll get a lot of looks at the range when you take it out!

No shortage of 44 Special ammo Frank. Just not an easy decision.
Never in my wildest dream did I think I'd ever own the Sixguns I now have in my collection.
Sometimes it takes a while for things to sink in. Bear with me, I'll get there.

Sometimes it takes a while for things to sink in. Bear with me, I'll get there. Just joking, I'm a firm believer that whoever owns the gun should be the only one to decide whether or not to shoot it. Thanks for sharing, that's a beautiful six-gun.

Well, after considerable soul searching, I shot the new gun today.
A few threats from S&W Collectors, a few offers from others have came along. In the end, I decided guns were all made to be enjoyed.
The gun was drop dead accurate. Keeping the majority of groups were around 1".
I'm very satisfied with my purchase.
