Between 7x leathers and diamond d guides choice, which would you choose for a 629 vcomp 5"? Why?
Is there a better alternative than the galco Kodiak hunter for .460 bone collector with optic? If do, what?

I have a Diamond D for a Glock 20 I use for hiking and am very happy with it. Works well with a pack or rifle and easily adjustable to wear under or over stuff. I was interested in the 7x and sent an email with some questions but never got a response. As for what holster for a larger handgun with a scope I'm still researching that myself for a scoped FA 7.5".

Rob at Simply Rugged makes great holsters. Look at his stuff at Simplyrugged.com. I have several of his holsters, including one with his chesty puller system for my 7.5 in super blackhawk hunter. Love it.

I like the Diamond D just fine but I think the 7x is a better rig. Scoped or not. Wes does fine work.

I own both Diamond D rigs, and a Galco Kodiak Hunter. I considered the 7x when I was looking for a rig for my Bisley Hunter with a scope on it. I bought the Galco mostly because of price and availability (I found one in stock at a LGS for $120). I must say I have been very happy with it, and it works really well whether I have a scope or red dot mounted, or just the bare revolver. It is very easy to draw from with the long open top design, and holds the revolver very securely. I have used it mostly at the range, wandering my property and for deer hunting. It's not the best looking option out there, but I cannot fault the performance at all.
I have a Diamond D rig for both a Glock 20 and a Ruger Alaskan/Kodiak Backpacker. I find both of them to be very secure and comfortable to wear. They are fast and easy to put on and adjust and hold the weapon quite securely. For a non scoped gun, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. I have used these hiking, canoeing, mountain biking, and wandering and working on my property. I have also worn them when fishing in areas where I have been aproached by bears in the past. They never interfere with my activity or get in the way. I have to admit I chose these somewhat due to cost and fast availability. I got them both from Amazon and had them each in hand in two days.
Neither of them have the zoot of a custom rig, but they both perform very well in my use.
