This is a pair I built from a nice piece of Monterillo Rosewood, another name for Pau Ferro. This stuff supposedly came from the Northern part of it's range. It reminds me of some of the Goncalo Alves that S+W used, once upon a time.I like to really fine tune the grooves to each segment of my fingers. They fit well,my hand locks in,the same every time and the gun points naturally. The Monterillo was nice to work with and took a nice finish. Here, they are on a 3",629: I like the grip wide at the top, where most recoil impact occurs and narrow at the bottom so the two smallest fingers get better purchase and help with control.

I keep coming back to have a look at this one. Boy O Boy, I sure do like it! The grips totally set it off, but the gun itself is just a dandy made even better with your grips.
I also really like that yellow sight insert. Is that from the factory or something aftermarket You/Someone else added?
Thanks BigBore44

Beautiful work, I especially agree with widening the grip at the top of the gripframe as I have an abused thumb joint to verify the wisdom of your fashioning that grip!

Thanks for the kind words, guys. BigBore44,I did the fluorescent yellow insert myself. It's just a clear resin and a fluorescent yellow pigment. Most of my hunting revolvers are set up that way.I find it to show up better than other colors,in those last few minutes of legal shooting light. In bright light,it can be less distinct but I inlay a vertical, black line,up the center of the yellow insert. This not only helps me center the front sight but also gives me a finer aiming point. On a 4" gun,at my arm's length,a 1/8" front sight blade covers 8" at 50 yds,16" at 100.I'll try to find or take a picture of that insert with stripe. Here is a picture of those grips on a .44 Mountain Gun.I was sitting on a Montana hillside, overlooking a nice spring, waiting for a big cinnamon bear.I got stood up(the story of my life). The good news is,I will be back their soon.
