amazing shooting!! I get a kick out of the people that say that the target was too big or whatever to discredit the shooters. that is a long way out there and even very small changes in anything changes bullet impact.

Looks like they were there a while, sun was going down. Long way out there, impressive.

I was wondering what the bullet arc would be on a shot like that. Air time for the bullet was 10.8 seconds. When they did the 3800 yd shot air time was 8.5 seconds bullet arc was 338 feet. Hold over at 100 yds would be 13 feet. muzzle velocity for the 350 grain bullet was 3440 fps and 850 fps at the target. All that at 3800 yds. And yes it looked like it was a long day. You could see the moon in the sky for the last couple shots. it is amazing shooting with amazing equipment.
Now if I could only hit a paper plate 5 times at 100 yds I'd be happy! Hell I'm pleased as all get out with a lung shot on a white tail at 50 to 60 yds.

We are currently building a rifle for this type of game. Can't wait to get it finished!! Stock and barrel are there and action supposedly should be in any day. It's getting close, hoping to have it ready and loads fireformed before June.

What are you building and what is your objective? And of course we are all waiting for your write up and pictures.

Steve Roe is building it. 375 SnipeTac built on a stiller Tac408 action with a MacM A5 Adj stock in the newer woodland spectre camo. Barrel is a Kreiger and should finish about 32" long plus a brake. I'll be using the Calvin Elite trigger that I have a a couple other long range builds, great trigger and comes adjusted from the factory at 8 ounces Scope is a Gen2 Vortex Razor HD. It has 7 mils of vertical adjustment more than the Schmidt and Benders I use if I'm not mistaken. It will help get us out to the distances that we plan to shoot with it without having to move to the reticle as quickly for holdovers. I'm running one on a 6 Creedmoor right now and I'm impressed with the glass for sure. It's every it as nice optically as the S&B at a fraction of the cost. There are a lot of them out there on the competition circuit and they have held up exceptionally well for those guys. Steve owns a company called Apache Machine. His builds are exceptional. I shot my 6.5 CM this past January from the back of my truck getting the baseline zero at 100 dialed in. Made the adjustments and fired 4 rounds. Center to center was .0145" when you mic the outside of the hole and subtract the diameter. To say his guns shot is an understatement. I'm planning to shoot the two mile targets in NM at the Whittington Center when I have time and then go out from there. The 2000 yard stuff gets really boring very fast with these guns. Once you have your wind hold, these guns hit with boring consistency, winds change a LOT at those distances but it's still fun.

I like the long range stuff. I just don't like the drive time to get there. Lost my 1.5 "field range" a few years back. A field road a section and a half long straight as an arrow. When corn was planted we had all the wind flags you could ask for, along with late in the year it was almost like shooting in a tunnel. As you mention, after a bit of time with a good rifle it gets boring at 800-1000 yards. One play toy left, my Savage F/TR 308, round count is right at 450. Not bad for a rifle that is 10 years old. FYI to those of you that have an interest these are about the cheapest to play with. Out of the box I have seen them whup up on some expensive pro built rifles. Of course glass, knowledge and planets being aligned properly have a lot to do with it.

I've got two revolvers I'd like to take to this range.

That's a kick that 2000 yd. shots get boringly repeatable. I guess it's just a testament to man, machine, planning, and engineering.

I would love to try "long range" shooting... I built a custom 6.5 X 284 on a blueprinted NOS BRNO 30-06 action with custom heavy weight long barrel & laminate stock... 20 MOA scope base... I'll admit, it's nothing like those guys were using, & I don't have a permanent long range scope for the rifle yet... but then my "long range", on my personal range is 300 yards... I figure if I can consistantly shoot under MOA at 300 yards, ( I've done it once, but I've not had the time to really play, & still need a dedicated long range scope like I'd like to, before moving out further ) once I got there, I'd make a portable shooting deck I could put at the end of my driveway, & angle over to my range backstop, & get in the neighborhood of 600 yards... after that, I'd have to set up something up temperary out in the fields, to shoot from my regular bench, after the crops come out, & could maybe get to 1200 yards, but that would be my absolute maximum range on my property... after that, I'm not sure how much drive time would be involved to get over 1200 yards? I was always wondering what I could do with my 338 Win Mag in stock form, from my Browning stainless stalker BOSS rifle???
