You are right. Roy's French walnut grips are almost that much by themselves.

I called him and am going to get a quote for shipping tomorrow. He had the work done something like 20 years ago and retired it from CASS in 2002 after a couple of seasons. Fish paw grips fitted and numbered to the gun, "Gunslinger" action job. I couldn't talk him out of the Colt or USFA 44-40s he's been running since.
Haven't committed to buy it, but we'll see. If someone else here snags it that's fine by me.

Yeah - if he were local, I'd buy it just to steal the stocks, if nothing else.

One thing that you guys know...or should....
Those grips are unlikely to fit anything else.
Maybe it's different with a plow handle but I've got more experience than I'd like with trying to get Roy's bisley grips to fit a gun they weren't made for.
I paid a pretty penny for that grip frame I bought a while back that twinned with the Fishpaw stags that were being sold in a separate auction.
It will probably take switching grip frames on your gun.

It will probably take switching grip frames on your gun. Which is exactly what I would do - switch the grip frame and stocks to another gun, if I were to buy this to rob the stocks.

I'd slap that grip frame with Fishpaw's walnut on a .45 convertible Blackhawk!

He's pulled his number. Did you get it?

I had first dibs, but apparently others on this forum messaged him as well. I told him if nobody else agreed to buy it I'd do $650 shipped, and I haven't heard back since (this was yesterday).

It was me. I called him the other day and told him I'd take it if he would ship. We had a few good talks. Talked to him again yesterday and we settled. He is shipping the gun without even getting payment yet. Few gentlemen left like that now days. Crazy busy, but I promise to follow up later.

Good snag! I about called him when it was first mentioned but realized I didn't have a gun to swap the gripframe to and since Roy is not taking new customers anymore I thought it best if someone else got the pleasure of having a set of his grips.
