Foxtrapper,
Thanks for the information. I was planning to contact them in a few days with the same question.
Thanks, Freeze

I have a knurled locking base pin that I've used in my .44 SBH Bisley Hunter, as well as in my 5.5" .45 Colt SBH Bisley....never had a problem with the cylinder binding due to the screw being snugged agains the barrel. However - they absolutely shoot loose in both of my guns. "Eventually" I'll be getting the #5 style with Bowen lock screw for both guns. For now, I just have to keep shoving the base pin back in the gun every few shots.....

Have you tried a Wolff extra power base pin spring? One of those with a Belt Mountain should easily handle 45 Colt.

I guess I should look into it. I had more or less given up on the thing until I could replace it!

and in defense of the thing itself.....my 44 Mag is scoped and I shoot heavy loads through it....the 45 Colt gets +P loads 90% of the time

I have a 44 mag SBH Hunter which I have had for just over a year. I generally shoot medium hot loads with 240 grain lead and AA #9 or IMR 4227.
About 500 rounds in mine spit the base pin and locked up one time. I installed the Wolfe extra power base pin spring and have another 8 to 900 rounds including 350 hot 300 grain XTP's and haven't had another issue since.
However, the gun is currently at Clements Custom, and one of the things being addressed is the addition of a #5 locking pin with the recessed hole in the barrel.
