I've had a fun project idea involving the .500S&W and BP loads floating around the back of my head for a few years and I want to take it a little further. I don't cast due to time, space, etc so I need to find someone that makes a conical or Minie style cast bullet for the .500. I'll be powder coating them if that matters. I also need some BP load data if possible. Last time I looked was a couple of years ago and I never could really find any BP or Pyrodex load data. Thanks!

Thirty five grains of blackhorn209 with the Lyman 501680 runs about 1200fps in my carbine. That's with a Remington 9 1/2 magnum primer. Nice mild load

Blacke Dawge might have proper bullets. I've bought their bullets in .357 and .44. With that said, if you don't hope to fire many at a time, bullet choice not so critical. Just have fun. With real BP, powder needs to touch bottom of bullet to slight compression. Air space is BAD. I have Pyrodex-P but haven't loaded but a few .357 play loads and haven't test shot them yet so won't give advice. Trail Boss is not BP, but does give similar boom ! and soft recoil. Not the smoke or smell though, sadly ! Use a lubed wad, though I have skipped this step when I knew I just wanted a few rounds. Luck.

Thanks, this is more info than I was able to find before!
450ak, are you casting from that Lyman mold or is someone commercially casting them? What kind of carbine are you using?
bula, I think between the PC and something like a Wonder Wad (IIRC from my BP revolver days) should take care of the lube AND air space issues.
