Hello All,
I picked up a box of .44 cal 240 grain "Keith" style coated bullets today and was curious how you all develop load data for coated bullets. I figured I start with a light load of Unique or perhaps even a slightly heavier load of HS-6 however I wasn't sure quite where to start. I will have to look at what load charge I had for the 240 grain standard SWC non-coated bullets (think it was something like 8 or 9 grains of Unique?) but I wasn't sure if I load a few grains up or a few grains down for the coated bullets. They will be fired out of an assortment of Ruger SBH's, a Ruger SRH and a Winchester 94 lever gun, all in .44 Mag.
Thanks in advance!
-John

John I usually just load coated the same as lubed, but that's me. Let's see what others recommend on this... Good luck BigBore44

I was also curious if I could powder-coat already-lubed plain lead bullets. It dawned on me that I have a huge box of bulk bullets that look very similar to these MBC bullets and thought perhaps it'd be worth a try to powder coat them. Would I need to remove the lube first? -John

John Yeah you would need to get the lube off prior to PC'ing them. I've heard you can boil it off and then clean the bullets with acetone/nail polish remover etc. I PC'd some bullets today for the 327, but I'm just not getting good coverage for some reason??? I tumbled them for 20-25 minutes in HF Red (I hate this Harbor freight PC, need to try different PC company? ) than into the cooker for 20 mins on 400° Just not covering correctly IMO..? I'll try another coating tomorrow, maybe Good luck BigBore44
