From what I see it would be a model 15-2, 8" HV. H represents heavy ( full under lug) and V represents the vents on top. 15-2 is the standard , blue small frame and after that it is all about what barrel assembly you hang on it. $350. is a great price of admission and condition looks super. It should shoot as well as he can hold it.

squawberryman..... the DWA Model 15 enjoyed rather widespread use in IHMSA silhouette, mostly 6 and 8-inch, with the Vent Heavy 8" barrel configuration preferred. The M-15 is Dan Wesson's sideplate revolver, and introduced his grip spike design, which cut production costs while expanding grip possibilities. Barrel tensioned via the shroud, which contributes to accuracy. One-in-18-3/4" twist, enough to stabilize the popular Speer .358 180 grain Flat Point rifle bullet. Phillip Braud of Louisiana shot the second perfect 40x40 with his M-15.
Silhouetters campaigned these guns hard, and, in keeping with basic affordability of the M-15, shot cast bullets.
Hammer and trigger are sintered (powdered metal) and hard coated. Use a good grease or motor oil on the lockwork. As with the S&W drop-forged & case hardened hammer & trigger, do not stone through the thin out skin. You gun has the Pachmayr Presentation stock. Dan Wesson may have pioneered the readily interchangeable front sight on this revolver. David Bradshaw
