I wanted to second what Lee said about the old forum. I didn't see that message and had recently been on there looking up something. Last night my computer crashed and I spent all day rebuilding my stuff. Could be a big coinsidence, but the timing is pretty amazing. I'm all good now, but I've been doing quite a bit of cussing today. Fortunately I had just backed up all my stuff last week.

We keep hearing about peoples computers crashing but that term is so generic that it could mean anything. Could you elaborate a little? What happened? What did your computer do or not do?
Just interested to see what to look out for. Are you running virus protection that did not catch it?
Don't mean to get too personal but this info could be helpful to others.
Thank You

Sorry to hear that. I think the best thing is just to stay off the old forum. Anti-virus should protect you, but why run the risk? -Lee www.singleactions.com

I kept getting error message after strange error mesage. Any website I went to wouldn't recognize me and kept asking for login info. My email stopped working (kept failing to connect), and when I'd open my web browser it would say open for a second and then shut down like I had " X'ed " out of it. After trying diagnostics for awhile I ended up with the blue screen of death. I was using an antivirus, but who knows. Fortunately I had recently bought an external HD and been backing up stuff like gangbusters. I just had to format and re-instal everything. Now it's like a brand new computer.

As I said to one of the merry copiers earlier:
The virus issue is really low on my list of worries. If you have good, updated anti virus software, scan frequently (I'm doing it before and after I visit the site as well as on all the stuff you guys are sending me), the risk is fairly low. I put these hackers in the same category as terrorists, cancer, ninjas, and zombies - take steps to protect yourself, but don't sweat it because if they really want to get you, they will.
Adding to that, there are two ways these types win; either by directly taking you out or by causing you to radically modify your life. I am going to proceed with the archiving until I know that it is not prudent to do so. I personally feel that the benefits outweigh the risks. We had a good suggestion about saving first to a drive other than the hard one and then scanning - that's one more thing that we can use to keep us safe.
Everyone has to decide for themselves.
