had some warmer mixed cast 44 mag loads I was given, that I decided to shoot up, so I could sell the brass, put those through my 6" Dan Wesson... & I sighted in my Ruger Alaskan in 480 that I had just installed a set of Fiber optic front & rear sights on... so since I'm lazy... I shot from from my bench, so I could sit down, & just rested my arms on the table... 480 was sighted in with my 1st hand loads... 19 grains of AA#9 under a 412 grain cast bullet... I'm thinking I might want to try to lighten the trigger a little, since the single action breaks were pretty heavy... but, I'll put a couple 100 rounds through it, before I change anything... the 480 was "stout" from the table top... the 44 mag I put 100 rounds through the gun, I was banging away at my AR-500 plates at 60 ft... after I got the 480 sighted in, I banged 2 cylinders full of plates with the 480... fired 25-30 rounds of 480 total... sad thing, is my arm is sore... but not from big bore magnums, but from the impact bullet puller, since I pulled down 250 rounds of FIL's handloaded 17 Remingtons on Sunday... those 25 grain bullets don't build much momentum, in a bullet puller, & some took 3 or 4 whacks to pop the lil pills loose... Blizzard is hitting today, so I won't be on my range for a few days, but think I have another 75 or so 44 mags to shoot up, & get polished before the next gun show... those 480 bullets only come 50 to a box, at 412 grains each, so I need to either buy more of those, or buy something else to try... was thinking of trying a box of powder coated 480 bullets???

Collet bullet pulling die and press is so much easier and a lot less messy.

Sounds like a great day! I'm also dealing with the blizzard in NW Minneapolis suburbs. Used the snow blower twice on the drive and can't even tell. Did five of the neighbors' drives and doubt they'll even notice... Well at least it's starting to feel like MN here and not the south! magnumwheelman : you in the Twin Cities? It'd be a blast to get together sometime and have you teach this young guy some things about sixguns and send some rounds downrange. I've got a few big bores too! -John

TRUE... I'm not in the cities... live down Albert Lea way ( where I-90 & I-35 cross )... I do get to the cities a couple times a month for work ( boss meetings ) & occasionally for other stuff...
