Model 27? Not this one. There were no model 27s at this point in time. While around since 1935 S&W did not call it their Model 27 until 1957.

Thanks Axehandle,
I had no idea they had done the crosshatching outside the model 27.
So post war, what was the designation. Still Registered Magnum?

My first experience with a 357 was at age 5, I was maybe 30 lbs. Pestered my Dad to no end until out of frustration he let me fire one round at the range from his Colt Trooper Mk III. Target was a milk jug at 15'. Fired that shot, and when the blackness went away I was 5' back from where I had been standing and had that Trooper pointed Straight up. Clear blue sky but for 3 fluffy clouds I still remember distinctly 39 years later. Apparently I got up and was so excited asking Dad to do it again. He put my brother and I in the car and went straight home. LOL Then I started reading Skeeter...357 is my favorite. Read his article www.darkcanyon.net/MyFriend_The357.htmSo often I see how writers will say a 357 is good for Novice shooters to hunt with and everyone else should use something bigger. Logic error. If its good for a Novice, a Veteran or Master shooter its absolutely perfect. My fav load is a Lyman 170-gr. 358429 with 7grs. Unique. In my Ruger Blackhawk 6.5" barrel. If a Bisley came up I would get it. Been starting to look for a flattop, which I would send in someday to have a longer cylinder put into it so I could use the 358429 bullet in.
