Howdy Has anyone here Used or Using the Penn Bullets 270gr ThunderHead in the 45 Colt or 454? Has anyone here hunted with these? Any input or load data/suggestions, hunting stories are welcomed and appreciated... I just received a 250 pc box and will be trying them out in my SRH in both 45 Colt brass and 454 brass. I will also be loading for my father's 16" 460 TC Encore. (Loading these in 454 brass) Thank you for any and all input. BigBore44

have a an old NEI mold that drops a very similar bullet wieghing 285 using ww metal. Never have leaned on the gas and developed any hunting loads for it mainly because it has a beveeled base which is a feature i neveer liked for high velocity loads. with that said i did develope a lite load for the Casull using Titegroup pushing it a bit over 1100fps in the 7-1/2 FA. extreemely accurate out to 130ish yards which is as far as i have ever shot the load. wouldnt be afraid to tackle our Mississippi deer with it

Been playing with it some in 45 colt brass loads running 1100 fps and less. Very accurate in just about anything I have shot it in. Would love to shoot game with it. 100 yards is as far as I have shot with it and it shoots with the semi wadcutters and wide flat nose at that range. So far no keyholes even out of 4 5/8" barrels. Shoots better than I expected.

For loads I just use the same starting loads for the 270 semi wadcutters.

For loads I just use the same starting loads for the 270 semi wadcutters. That would be good advice asI recall doing exactly that with my mold and capacity was practically the same as the 270g Keith i was using
