. Which gunsmith can rework a Marlin 39 to straight grip?
There is a JM stamped Marlin 39A (with safety, so 39AS?) here in the house, it is, of course, a pistol grip style stock, not my preference on lever actions. I have 5 other Marlins all of which are straight grip, so it would be nice to convert this little levergun to match. And although I know someone will suggest buying a Mountie, the price on those is just ridiculous nowadays. I picked up my very cherry 39 for a song, so low a price it was impossible to pass up. I already have a new, correct, straight lever, which is like finding hen's teeth btw, and I even have the right buttstock, all bought at a fraction of the cost of a Mountie.
I just need the lower part of the receiver modified, and the lever fitted. Just.
Years ago Clement was willing to do the work, if I recall correctly, but I will need to call and confirm that. Just wondering who else might be trusted with the job? I think a long barreled, straight grip 39 would be most excellent, dude!

I suggest calling David Clements, or emailing him.
