Open carry doesn't seem like a very good idea to me. I prefer people not knowing I have a gun and open carry could set you up for legal problems. I could see a anti gun type saying that you threatened them or something when they see you have a gun. Just to start problems. This isn't the wild west.

I conceal carry sometimes. I mostly open carry though. Partially because I don't always feel like trying to dress to conceal, and partially because I'm doing nothing wrong, therefore I don't feel feel a need to conceal what I am doing. I also feel that the chances of a criminal targeting me specifically are very slim.

Preserving the rights in the constitution (or any other rights for that matter) - means sometimes you have to exercise them. Otherwise they go away. I dont live in the US - but if I did I would carry concealed all week - and I would open carry once in a while as an "exercise" just to make a point. The 2nd amendment is so clear even a 3yr old can understand it.... but if you watch youtube - there are plenty of legislators, police and citizens who believe they can "disallow" it. If ignoring the constitution becomes an everyday thing - pretty soon it will be null and void.
You might think - "how come this dude has an opinion of our constitution if he doesnt even live here". The answer is clear and simple. Where I live we have nothing like it..... and I so wish we did!

CCW holder from MS, am always carrying concealed because many places i have to go daily would attract way to much attention if open carrying. That said i often also carry in the open regularly going about my routine. Very few ever notice much less comment on a full size S&W on my hip in a pancake holster. Now the guys that attract a lot of attention tend to be of the frame of mind to attract attention ie., the tactical thigh rigs for thier hi points! Firmly think we should all be armed in these days of crazy behavior by unhinged individuals

I told him "My store, my rules." Pretty simple. Open carry is legal, but if owner asks you to leave, WV says you have to leave. Small town and my customers know my passion for guns. We talk guns and hunting every day and customers know our history. Never needed to be confrontational. It all comes down to respect and treating others like you want to be treated. www.wsaz.com/home/headlines/Suspect-Shot-During-Attempted-Robbery-in-Pinch-292394951.html?device=tablet&c=y

So you have no regulation to use 30-06 or 30-07 signage to be legal??

I think some don't realize how difficult concealed carry is in warm weather unless one carries one carries one of the tiny semi autos, which I happen to loathe. I will always CC when possible, but as soon as OC is legal here in Texas, I'll no longer have to remove my rig when I go to town for feed, etc. If someone feels uneasy when they see me exercise my 2nd Amendment right, get over it.

I like it that many states have open carry laws, when we winter in Arizona you see many people exercising their rights to open carry, I'm not one of them & never will be but I always carry concealed. If its warm & my gun happens to "print" I'm not concerned, at least its covered & I'm not scaring old women & children who may not understand. Here's a secnario for each of us, what would you do if.... you're going through the check out line at a nice store, you're carrying open & some lady starts in on you, the crowd is on her side & she's out of control. She's not looking for an explanation, she's looking for a fight, what do you do?

I don't agree with the notion that we must necessarily exercise our right to openly bear arms in polite society, lest we lose said right. Same can be said for displaying rude, hostile, or antagonistic bumper stickers, or t-shirt slogans, lest we lose our Constitutional right to free speech. Having a Constitutionally protected right to do something doesn't necessarily mean exercising said right is a healthy or productive way to interact with people.

She's not looking for an explanation, she's looking for a fight, what do you do? Dick Drama looking for a place to happen. As my mother used to say "Don't borrow trouble." But I'll play anyhow... What do I do? Nothing. Why would I have to do anything if I'm not breaking the law? It doesn't matter if the entire town is on the woman's side. You're doing nothing wrong. If you feel you MUST do something, dial 911 and tell the dispatcher you feel threatened by the woman/people. Point. I'm expected to tolerate people burning the flag, men sitting on a park bench kissing one another, filthy language in front of my wife and/or children, all of which I find deeply offensive, and yet I'm supposed to refrain from exercising my right to carry because I might frighten or offend someone?? Not a chance. I will never flaunt my right to bear arms and NEVER deliberately frighten or intimidate a person by carrying, but I will carry proudly and unapologetically. Remember, millions have died to protect that right.

I don't know the right answer, I just know if its legal we don't owe anyone an explanation but I also know if someone started unloading on me in public I might not be very friendly towards their remarks, thats just me. I'd rather keep mine tucked away & avoid that possibility. I remember the year the Phoenix Cardinals played the Pittsburg Steelers in the Super Bowl, my wife & I were wintering in Arizona & I happened to be wearing my Black & Yellow Steelers Croc's & some old lady was fighting mad, right in the super market & she wasn't joking!

cfo - just curious. What country are you in? I am from Denmark (Northern Europe). Owning and shooting a gun here is up hill all the way. But at least it is still possible. One just have to have money and patience (and lots of it). In many other ways Denmark is a good place to be. Otherwise I would have left long ago...

Very nice place. Except for that language! Not at all easy for the "occasional user".
