In all honesty I never thought I would own such a nice Smith and Wesson. Picked it up from my local gun enabler. May his FFL flourish forever! I've shot it and it shoots well. Don't think it was ever fired until I obtained it. It's not a recall gun! Barranti Hank SLoan, cartridge slide in black basketweave are in it's future. Merry Christmas!

Now that is one good looking Smith! I assume 624 model designation?

Thank you Kings 6, I appreciate your comment! Yes the 624 is the Model designation for Smith and Wesson 44 Special N Frames in Stainless. I'm trying to figure out how to make my pictures larger. This gun is begging for a larger format. I think I've found a gun that would be fitting for an avatar but don't know how to make that happen!
Kinda like the guy with 2 Karate lessons, I know just enough computer to get into trouble!

That's outstanding. I do admit having a little envy over that gun.

That's one beautiful gun. I am wondering about the stocks on it? I do hope you give us a shooting report later. Congratulations on that one.

Thanks guys, I feel very fortunate to have lucked into it! The grips are elephant ivory, and they have been on the gun for several years. The story goes the gun was engraved and ivory added over a decade ago, and keeps gun as a collector piece. Original owner dies and son sells the weapon to local gun dealer. I'm locally known as a 44 Spl kinda guy and a Smith devotee. I've shot it, with Pearce's Power Pistol load that does 1K with a Keith bullet and 16K pressure. Gun is accurate but grips are a tad small for shooting mid level 44 Specials. Now my grandkids will have something to fight over! Here is a photo of the 624 next to a 629 Mountian Revolver.

Very nice. Wish I would find something like that, I'd be all over it. Even though the S&W magnas don't work for me on anything but a 22, I couldn't change out those beautiful ivories.
