Paden, I have to say I agree. I am immensely happy with my guns, but it shouldn't work this way.
Before I take delivery of a Ruger Revolver these days, I take my dial caliper, feeler gauge, etc and check it out.
I have found all the midframed flattop frame guns to be near perfect and I wish all Rugers were built like these.

That's what's baffling. How good the flat-tops and New Vaqueros are and how inconsistent everything else is.

....maybe this is the price you pay when you're driving the "2 million guns in a year" push for some sort of record?
the old "three legged stool" the acquisition folks are always discussing - good, cheap, fast - if you want one - the other two are suspect...
of course for a long, long time - a lot of us have always asked the guy at the gun counter if they have more that just the model on display - just in case....

Well I suppose I can't leave well enough alone and they weren't sending the email until after the 28th so I took it down again. Every edge on the pawl was razor sharp with no bevels on either step. I slightly beveled the first step which allowed the cylinder to rotate freely when inserted. I then slightly beveled the inside edge of the second step. My bevels are about half what all my other Ruger pawls are but it was enough to allow it to come to full cock without binding. When I hold the cylinder tightly as I cock it, I can feel the slightest bind so I still need to work on the second step just a bit. I also shortened the stub on the pawl. It stuck through the hammer about 1/16" and was rubbing the trigger. Doing that brought the trigger pull down to ~4lbs. It appears that I got an unfinished pawl. I don't have a fired case in the box. Do they no longer do that? Or did this one get skipped since it wouldn't fire as it was anyway?

Now that it is able to be fired, I may shoot it and see exactly how far off center the front sight is. It may actually be right and the topstrap is angled from polishing

Tek What is that on your fingertip? I can't make it out on my phone...? What holster is that in your one pic there? Looks to be for a scoped gun, maybe?.? Last but not least Maybe you should apply for a job @ Ruger... If I ever move up near my sister, I think I'm gonna do just that! Must be an opening somewhere, even if it's sweeping floors or gluing up guns LMAO!!! Good luck on your project. BigBore44

Bigbore, that looks like a piece of a carbide to me. It's about 1/16 in diameter and 1/8" long. The holster is some homemade cross draw holster I found on eBay. I needed one for a 7.5" Super. I suppose it would work with a scope, but my thought would be that I could lift and clear the holster while hunting without having to draw as far.

My friend sent me a pic of his pawl in his 454 and I've got to take a bit more off to match the amount on his. Hopefully I'll get that done and fire a few rounds in the next couple of days.
