I read an article, many years ago, about a certain way a particular gunsmith modified large frame S&W and Colt New Service revolvers for pocket carry. The barrels were drastically shortened and the front half of the trigger guards were removed. Anyone recall the name of the gunsmith this conversion is known for? Thanks Matt

Fritz specials, they were orignially done on Colts as Mr Fritz worked for Colt, classic defense gun concept.

Yup, but it's Fitz. The gentleman's name was John Henry Fitzgerald.

I believe Andy Horvath recently did one for a guy on the S&W forum

Thanks guys. A local gunsmith turned up a hand ejector Fitz in 44spl. I couldn't remember the Fitz name.

Since FitzGerald (that's the way he spelled it) was a long time representative and spokesman of Colt, I'm surprised he ever modified a S&W. See "Shooting" by J.H. Fitzgerald.
