I stripped down my Ruger SRH (.44 Mag) today to clean up the internals and cannot get the darn thing back together. I get to the point where I have the trigger assembly back in the frame and the trigger will only move about 2/3 of the way back when pulled before stopping. The trigger is rotating and locking the cylinder but not allowing a full pull. I cannot get the hammer back in the gun and think it is something I did with the trigger assembly.
The trigger assembly did shed some parts when I removed it from the frame but I painstakingly got all the detents and springs back in place (I THINK) and everything seems as though it was in place when I first removed it. Anyone with an idea of what I did here?
Thanks,
John

The Gun Digest assembly books are pretty helpful.

Watched a bunch of YouTube videos and think I'm stuck. Time to take it to the gunsmith with shame...

John Take another look at it before going to the GS. It's most likely something being overlooked. Look with fresh eyes knowing it's something simple right in front of you. Take some time and study any explode views and look at more YouTube videos. I had similar problems when I disassembled my SBH. Took me 2 days to figure it out, but I got it and it was something simple I was just overlooking. Good luck BigBore44 PS Once you get frustrated, walk away and come back to it later You'll get it!

Excellent advice. quite before throwing things and start over from scratch. Been there.

Can't imagine it is anything too major. I stripped mine down and put some shims in and put it all back together on the first go around. Like others said, give your brain a rest and try again later.

First guess is an accidental swapping of the pawl spring with the cylinder stop spring. Second guess would be the trigger return spring having restricted movement. Third guess is a misaligned transfer bar, however that type of misalignment will normally prevent the trigger from moving at all. Can you elaborate on which parts went flying or what parts you removed or replaced? That will help with diagnosis. Hope you get it back together soon.

Make sure the trigger link plunger , part number KTO3700 , is not installed backwards and that the trigger link is in the hollow end and not on the rim of it. Look it over ,you will find the problem.

Still couldn't get it back together no matter what I tried and I think the plunger in the trigger spring housing (not sure if my term is correct) that mates into the grip frame got buggered and wouldn't allow full movement of the trigger spring. I gave up and sent it back to the Ruger "spa." Sure feel foolish but lesson learned!
