Newer Rossi 92's are drilled and tapped for a scout mount. I have a pistol scope mounted on mine.

I have seen that. But, I want a traditional Marlin type gun. It's hard for me to imagine a better woods gun.
Winchester 73 & 92 clones are available everywhere.
Marlin keeps toying with bringing back the 1894 in 45 Colt. I will leave a slot open in the safe just in case.

I recently picked up the Henry Big Boy steel in 44 magnum. I really like it. I like the simplicity of the gate-less loading system. Seems like there is less chance of feeding failures etc. Nice wood also. How does the 44 shoot? I've had several Marlins and now a Browning B92, none of them shoot as well as the same gun in 357 or 45 Colt. I'm about ready to try a Ruger M77/44 I have only had it out one time so far but it shot fine. I mounted a Leupold FX2 4X scope on it. It shot great in fact.

They made a few of them. They claim on their site they are available from Davidson's.
Spoke to Davidson's Friday and they said it went away when Marlin sold out.
What they claim to have available and what they have available is two different things.

Try to understand, I bought what I wanted. I am not interested in buying a used gun from gunbroker. Many of these guns have had shadetree alterations for CAS wannabes. If Marlin comes out with a new run of them, I will likely park one in a rack.

Yeh, as much as I like the idea of the Henry, I just think the Rossi looks better. The forend of the Henry make it look like a daisy BB gun. Try to mount a scope on that Rossi. I have had one for years, but want a scoped rifle. I disagree. Which forearm? The brass big boy comes uncheckered whereas the steel big boy is checkered both are American black walnut. You can even get engraved and high figure wood if you are willing to pay a higher price. I've seen Winchesters and Marlins that more closely match Daisy applecrate. I believe Daisys are all plastic now.

About the only thing I may flex on is the scope. If the rear sight hampers correct mounting, I will switch to a Leupold 1-4x20. The straight tube may be necessary.

Took delivery of this gun yesterday and it is remarkable. The size of a Marlin 1894, but built more on the design of a small 336.
Action is silky smooth, fit and finish is excellent. Stock and forearm straight grain walnut, nicely checkered.
Installed the Henry scope base, steel rings and a Weaver k4 scope. Figured about a period correct as you can get with glass.
Believe this will be an excellent woods gun and mate for my assortment of 45 Colt revolvers.
