Ordered one today. My LGS had one in 357 Magnum and I really liked it. Been wanting a good 45 Colt lever gun and I think this is the ticket.
Drilled and tapped for a scope base, recoil pad and rated for +P loads. Not to mention 100% American made.
Been looking at the Big Boy, but this gun is 2 lbs lighter.

I'm in "need" of a 44 Special / 44 Magnum lever gun, & have been back & forth between the brass & the steel, or a Rossi... but leaning towards Henery for all the same reasons ( that & I find the pistol caliber loading gates often too small for my fingers & have been wanting to try the Henry style mag tube )...

I absolutely love the 45 Colt and have been wanting a rifle so chambered. Either you couldn't scope them or needed a horse and buggy to carry them.
This seems to solve both issues.

I have a unique Rossi brass frame & stainless octagon in 45 Colt that I use for my CAS rifle... I also love the 45 Colt... my situation is another "got ammo, need a another gun" my retired buddy talked me into taking 2-3000 rounds of his 44 Mag handloads ( all are cast bullet & Unique loaded, medium / hot loads ), he's not shooting any magnum handguns anymore... I've shot up a bunch in my Dan Wesson, but I already had a couple 1000 of my own before, so I'm thinking I need a companion gun to my Dan Wesson

I am going very traditional with this gun. I already picked up a Henry Weaver type scope base.
This morning, I ordered a Weaver k-4x scope. Rings will likely be Warne as they have always worked well for me.
I think with handloaded 30,000 psi loads, this combination will cover a lot of my hunting needs.

LOL I'm getting really old!! Traditional sights for a lever action rifle now equate to a scope.
But, it makes good sense to me. I can have difficulty hitting the big black circle at 100 yards with the buckhorn rear sight on my Model 94.
Have fun with it and have a great Thanksgiving!

I recently picked up the Henry Big Boy steel in 44 magnum. I really like it. I like the simplicity of the gate-less loading system. Seems like there is less chance of feeding failures etc. Nice wood also.

The ones my gun shop had in stock were very nice. I hope when mine comes in, it will be too. Certain it will be.
Look forward to setting this gun up to match my various 45 Colt revolvers.
Thanks for the information.

I bought a Henry big boy 44 as I had a lot of ammo and no desire to shoot it in any revolvers I had. Great gun, I prefer the loading, no cold, pinched fingers. I have cycled 305 grain HSM Bear loads, flatpoint Magtechs, and 44 special, it cycles all smooth and perfect. I had a great time blasting some soda cans, it really blows them in 2 even empty. I was tempted by a Miroku Winchester 1873 in 44 magnum but it was $500 more and I was concerned about its action holding up to plenty of magnums. No regrets. I was so happy I subsequently bought the big boy steel in 357. It cycles 200 grain doubletaps, 357 swc, 38 spl, even 38 long Colt. Here is what a 200 grain doubletap does to a can of soup. The reason the brass is heavier is the octagon vs. round barrel. Neither rifle had noticeable recoil.

I picked up the Henry Big Boy brass-frame version in .45 Colt a couple years ago, and have been very pleased with it. Only shot factory Winchester and Federal loads in it so far. Have two Henry .22 rifles that I like a lot, also.

I've had several Marlins and now a Browning B92, none of them shoot as well as the same gun in 357 or 45 Colt. I'm about ready to try a Ruger M77/44

Yeh, as much as I like the idea of the Henry, I just think the Rossi looks better. The forend of the Henry make it look like a daisy BB gun.
