Hey Guys, I took this buck a couple of days ago on a North Georgia, public land wildlife management area with my Freedom Arms 44 Mag (purchased from board member Ken Oneill). My load was a 240 grain Swift A Frame and a case full of 296. I shot him in the neck, as he was quartering to me hard. The bullet traveled through the heart and exited low behind the deer's left front leg. He ran about 30-40 yards and piled up. Since this is a designated wilderness area, there is limited road access resulting in a 1 1/2 hour hike to the stand, gaining several feet of elevation along the way! It was a long pack-out but at least it was all downhill!

Nice buck Darrell, you earned that one for sure! I know an old Marine who worked all the kinks out of that handgun for you, good job.

Glenn told me about that deer a couple of days ago when he and I talked, Darrell, and I've been looking forward to seeing the pictures. That certainly is a GREAT buck! I'm glad you used the .44 to take him. Why on earth did I sell that gun?

I'm glad you used the .44 to take him. Why on earth did I sell that gun? I'm not sure Ken, but I'm sure glad that you did! It is quickly becoming a favorite due to the fact that it shoots like a laser (even in my hands) and my respect and admiration for its previous owner! Thanks so much for all of your comments guys, I really appreciate it! Darrell

Wow! Rare to see a buck with that nice of a rack in N. GA, much less from a WMA! Sounds like you worked for him. Great job!
