Happy Birthday to all of you who served. The way I look at it, is I got to serve as a missionary on tropical South Pacific islands because you, and others like you, served in the military. Good bless every one of you.

Well, the reason I didn't jump in until now, is that I was traveling to the National Marine Corps Museum next to Quantico to rendezvous with 4 other old Marine Sergeants / cronies and their wives for a couple days of remembering when we were young, and more robust. My wife was also a Marine. We had a great time, took a lengthy tour, ate some Marine birthday cake in the Museum lobby, and had lunch at Tun Tavern, as well as a great dinner the night before at a GREAT marine theme restaurant, a bit of a party last night. We all survived it.
An interesting tidbit is that these guys were all no shrinking wall flowers 50-55 years ago when we spent every day together but every one of us is still married to the same original spouse, for more than 48 to more than 51 years, depending upon the couple.
So, I'm a day late, but happy birthday to all Marines!

My big Sis works for TAPS. She sent me the oddest text that eve., Marine Corp B-Day. She comes into contact with many service people of all kinds due to work, family, area she lives in, etc.. But text along the lines of...a bunch of Marines are here, we are drinking beer. Uh oh.. Texted back..house still standing ? Marines like to blow stuff up. They laughed, she said they were on their best behavior. I didn't know Marines had a "best behavior" ! May GOD Bless all of our Marines.

I didn't see my Father shed a tear when we buried his Mother. When he talked of putting Marines on beaches in the Pacific, he choked up. He told of coming in with the next load and having to beach on top of the ones that didn't make it outta the surf zone. This bothered him the rest of his days. He called them "brave young men". My Father was really tight with compliments. GOD Bless'm
