www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=519522504One of mine. This was a gun I bought locally several years back and sent to back to John to give through/over and tidy up. One of his early builds. He updated with the frame marks most are used to seeing, this one started before he was able to do so, and it wears jeweler's engraved barrel markings and serial number. John said he had a local jeweler in Cody do the engraving on his early guns. Gun got new walnut grips and new bluing once John finished the metal work. He said barrel was in great shape and talked me out of adding a banded barrel--he seemed a bit sentimental about the jewelers marked barrel it was wearing. Anyway, doing a bit of fall cleaning so thought I would start here. It's mint but just doesn't see any use.

Will, is the front blade pinned? Or can it be changed to a partridge type profile? Thanks, Trapr

Most of Johns are one piece. Not sure on this one though.

If I remember correctly that would have been built just after he built one for his dad.
Edit. I think his dad's was a 500
It's been a long time. And I'm old.

It has a hex screw int the sight base like all his guns I've seen, but blade and base are one piece. Think you can swap, but I would call John to make sure, which you'd likely need to do anyway if having him make a partridge blade and base. Admit I also like the partridge style.

This little jewel is about to slide through auction without a bid--so just bouncing up for reminder if anyone had interest in a nice discount on a beauty of a gun. Otherwise if will simply slip back into the safe.
Hope are all enjoying a good hunting season in their neck of the woods.
