Added a front Firesight to my Bisley Hunter, it works real well, but I am concerned that it may be too bright (have not field tested it yet). Heading to the woods this weekend...what's the easiest way to dim it down if I so need to? Thanks! Bulldog...

Paint just the top of it with liquid white out. I highly doubt it will be too bright though, I really do.

I have bad eyes...I get a starburst effect if my tri-focal glasses are not positioned just so. It's a problem I'm having to work around. So if I can dim it some, I may have a better chance to align the sights... we will see this weekend.... Thanks! Bulldog...
Update... Williams Gun Sights just called back, and recommended that I cover the opposite end of the fiber optic rod and that should dim it some. Trial & error time...

Bulldog, if the light is bright it can make the FO glow quite a bit, I have used a Sharpee to dim them down at times. But have found that normally the chance for a shot happens at a time when light is not a real issue, either because of time of day or I'm in shadows. A nice bonus about FO fronts that some do not realize is that it can provide the same benefit that having aiming bars on your front sight does, you only need to raise the FO dot to be level across the top of the rear sight. You also really have three aiming spots on it, the top of the FO, the middle of the FO, and the bottom of the FO. Used in that manner it can provide a tremendous range of use for shooting distances.

The FO front sights that we make for the pinned guns aren't open on the front but they work really well. As mentioned usually when you need them its either early morning or later in the afternoon so the FO isn't as bright as mid day like when you are at the range. Also if you are shooting cast bullets that are lubed that takes a bit of the "shine" off of them over a period of time. They aren't the greatest for shooting groups but work really good for hunting in dark timber.
