This is a long shot but it seems everyone here has some hard to come by things.
I am kinda sorta looking for another German wire haired pointer. Any of you folks have any in your area?
I have had quite a few dogs. These however take the cake so to speak for me. Protective, loyal and a want to please I have seen in very few, other than my blue heelers.
Pm or email me if you have a lead on any with in driving distance from the Kansas City area. Jeff

jsh, you've got great taste in canines. Don't have a lead on one for you now, but I had a big German import several years ago that was a fabulous companion and guard. Good thing about them too, is they don't register on your homeowners insurance radar, while protecting your hide about as good as any breed. Good luck on your quest. Skip

The best upland, big game dog. Smart, talented and mostly use their brains for being naughty. Excellent house dog if you isolate one in an outdoor kennel, you will be sorry if you have any heart. The dog will be a mess. They need to be in the house and go with you everywhere. They don't like cats or any other varmint. Well maybe they like the sound of bones crunching....... My thirteen year old GWP is lying next to me in bed waiting for our morning walk. And scheming how to get more biscuits. Best pal ever.

My thirteen year old GWP is lying next to me in bed waiting for our morning walk. And scheming how to get more biscuits. Best pal ever. My girl dog has some moments of "selective hearing" as most females seem to have. First of the GWP's I hunted behind was over 25 years ago. I was of the age and mind set that if it wasn't an English pointer it wasn't a bird dog. Had more wind and stamina back then, I could walk and yell all day never miss a beat. You ever notice how many deaf pointers there are? I mean everyone always screamed at them. I was running five dogs back then and usually in pairs. I stop and look back and it was ridiculous of what those dogs could do. This was when we still had quail. Seemed every fence row, rock wall and hedge row over 100 yards long had a covey. Birds declined and dogs went on. Started duck hunting and had a few labs, fine pups and companions. Buddy of mine was given a wire hair that had some issues. Turned out to be one of my best friends. He would have stood on his head for a treat, some praise or a pat on the head. Got my female and tried to get the two together a couple of times. He was of the age he just didn't have enough "lead in his pencil". Last time just about killed the old man with the young lady. The old mail dog was like a bull dozer. Didn't have any idea of how to go around anything. Always down through the middle of the worst of it. He was a dark liver with some ticking. My female is a black and white. Her one down fall to some folks is her blue eyes. She can burn holes through you with them. Always has to be carrying something, even if it's something you don't want her too. I will keep up my search, as it only took me 25 years to find a favorite, no hurry now. Jeff

Jeff Jeff, The breeder where I got my GSP also has some GWP's on occasion and he's out of Grinnell, IA (driving distance from you). Give Chris a call and he will either have a dog for you, talk you into one of his superb GSP's, or know where to find a GWP. www.6ruplandkennels.com/index.htmlMy GSP is a fantastic dog and a BIRD-SEEKING MISSLE! He's 3.5 years old and truly amazing in every way, although he's an outdoor dog exclusively. PM me if you'd like more info/background on my experience with 6R Upland Kennels or my dog in general. -John
