Picked mine up today and it's a nice piece. Plenty has already been written about these but three quick observations: 1) I must've lucked out on the grips because they fit really well. No gaps or overhangs 2) I'm pleased to find my 445 gr LFN clears the cylinder 3) I'll probably go with a Sixshot front blade. I plan to shoot the 445 LFN at 900 - 1,000 fps and the factory version may be short. 445 Martin LFN: -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

Great looking sixgun! I spoke with my LGS and they still have one on order for me, with my name fortunately high up on the list.
What's this Sixshot front sight you speak of? I will most-likely need one as well as I plan on running some 420's and up through mine...

Look in the gallery. There is a thread called (I think) Sixshot front sight. It's taller and is a better design IMO than the ramp.

I agree with the above, mine looks the same. My rear sight has already made its way to the lowest setting, and I'll be wanting a Sixshot front sight blade too.

I got mine too (finally!) after my little offshore sojourn. The grips fit would rate maybe a C. Gaps all around the tops and too small on the front strap. Had I made them myself I would not use them. But I have a few others I can try out so no big deal really. The serial number looks like 3 different people stamped the numbers; really sloppy looking. But other than these very minor issues this may be the nicest Ruger I own. Fit and finish is very, very good. Zero endshake, snug cylindrr pin and everything is smoooooooooth. The trigger is as reported...creepy and a little heavy. I am not worried about that in the least and will freshen that up.
I havent meaured anything yet but will in due time. The waiting is over. I am very happy with the quality overall and wont nitpick a couple of very minor issues. If you are still waiting your patience will be rewarded. If you still havent pulled the trigger...you are missing out on a fine, fine revolver in a great bigbore caliber.

Lets be fair, when talking about the trigger. I've spent an eve on the couch working the action, per the Boge boys, ran 30 some rounds thru it so far, and un-hooked a leg of the trigger spring. The trigger is as good as my Lipseys 44specs.. better than My Single-Sixs,44 SBH and NM BH .357. A "little creepy and heavy", maybe not an exageration, but lets put it in perspective. This not a custom revolver. Yes room for improvement, but this gun hit the market for 3 figures...remember ?

Markbo, sorry to ding ya..how was the fishing ? I am not worried about that in the least either! That trigger doesn't worry me. A little time and effort should clean it right up. Fishing was incredible. I came home exhausted and woke up sore, so it must have been good, right? I will figure out how to get pics up soon. I am tagged on a few on Facebook that I was going to put up here and Facebook blocked me out for trying to sign on from a new computer... hopefully they clear it up pretty quick and I will post some pics.

Excellent photo by Lee Martin of what appears to be a properly made revolver, the Super Blackhawk Bisley .480 Ruger. Calculating as Lee is, he resists soiling the revolver with powder burns until capturing a few photos in the pristine state. With serious shooters setting paw to these guns, we must consider reportage less than candid and which doesn't include targeting at 50 & 100 yards a hanging offense.
The Maximum ejector defines its visual balance as much as the Bisley grip, my connection to that ejector notwithstanding, for the purest hunt-on-your-hind-legs revolver since the old Model 29's and Super Blackhawks. I fully expect the best reports to post on this forum. David Bradshaw
